Revving Up Again!
Big news – Daniel Sanchez of Cut Throat Customs is rolling back into the Houston Motorcycle scene after a much-needed break. Life threw him some real challenges a while back – a new friend's passing, personal struggles, and a hiatus that was more than just a pit stop. But you know, life’s a journey, and so is the road.
Over ten years ago, a traumatic experience at an event slammed the brakes on Daniel's career even though he kept on going for several more years. Those around him didn't know how it really affected him and he didn't share it for a while. He didn’t want to build anymore, but kept on, which changed his relationship with his craft and everyone around him. He walked away in 2017, dealing with those personal demons, instead. But, life has a funny way of nudging you back onto the saddle. Things got more difficult before they got better.
His son's innocent question, "Dad, why aren't you building motorcycles anymore?" became the catalyst. The family, battling their own weather related and family health storms – from Harvey aftermath to his wife's brain/spine injury and 4+ year battle back, to navigating homeschooling during a pandemic, and the concern for his parents' health – it all began to fuel a different comeback. A comeback with different priorities.
So, here we are, ready for a genuine revival, but alongside his son’s namesake brand and side hustle, Thunderbird Speed Shop (Retail Shop) through Sanchez Metal Werkz (Welding & Fab), and with his family at the helm so he can just create. It's more than just revving engines; it's about a legacy reclaiming its spirit. No frills, no partying, just the stripped down version of Daniel, his new outlook on building, and his family breathing life back to his art again.
