The OG Jason Knight swung by our table at Blade Show Texas to show some love and check out our Kodiaks. You know we’re going to show our brother some good ol’ southern hospitality while he’s in Texas, and probably have some stories for the grandkids by the time it’s over. 🤘😎

If Rambo did Wing Tsun, he’d definitely have a set of these…

These are something special for our Wing Tsun brother Bobby Dano, who is also a combat veteran.

These Baat Cham Dou/butterfly swords, Texas Wing Tsun exclusive design, are W2 steel with a differential heat treat, 60 hrc on the cutting edge, and a triple gun blued finish.

The handle scales are a custom hybrid camouflage with stabilized pines cones, natural brown and black dyed Texas mesquite, hickory, fir bark, and cardboard squiggles, cast into a translucent pearl green resin. OD green and coyote brown G10 liners, carbon fiber pins, and 5.56mm shell casing inlays.

Hand made leather sheath.

This particular handmade custom set weighs in at720g each, with only a 2 gram deviation between swords, and perfect balance.

These blades are fully combat ready and reporting for duty.

Bobby, thank you for your service sir.

This work of art is a honyaki kiritsuki/k-tip gyuto (Japanese chef’s knife) with my interpretation of a Gunome style hamon. This is a bare blade (no handle) per customers request, as they wish to make the handle themselves. We didn’t go too crazy on the hand sanding, stone polishing and sharpening, or hamon polishing either, as the customer wanted to take care of the final touches themselves, but we at least had to do her makeup for some pics before she goes to her new home.

We really had a lot of fun with this build. It was very therapeutic lol.

This beautiful beast sports a 255mm cutting edge, and is about 4.6mm thick at the spine. 1095 steel, hrc 62-63 south of the hamon.

Big shout out to my boy Tana N Grizz from To The Point Blade for making it visual, it’s so much easier to explain this way. Public service announcement:

You get what you pay for. Damascus is EXPENSIVE. it’s a lot of work and it takes a lot of skill. And did I mention it’s expensive? You’re looking at at least double the price of what an equivalent custom knife would cost if it wasn’t Damascus. For instance, our Kodiaks retail for $300 and the Damascus Kodiaks are $600. There’s a reason for that!

Buyer beware! If you see a $50-$150 Damascus knife, run. We call that “Pakmascus”. It’s made out of Chinesium and soup cans and ford hub caps and who knows what else. And they’ll tell you it’s 1095 and 15n20 but honestly it’s probably not even hardenable steel. Sometimes the pattern is machined in. They’re cheap production run knives made in a sweat shop factory in China or Pakistan by barefoot 7 year olds and it’s JUNK. People buy them in bulk from wish dot com or Ali express and try to make it look like they’re giving you a good deal, but in reality they’re just ripping you off.

Remember, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
