Adding equipment? Increasing capacity? Changing how an existing structure is being used?

Before moving forward, it's important to understand what that structure can actually support.

Smithwick Engineering provides structural analysis and load evaluations to help clients understand existing capacity, identify potential limitations, and determine whether modifications are needed.

Know what you're working with before you add the load.

Finding damage doesn't always mean starting over.

Depending on the condition, an engineered repair or reinforcement may provide a practical solution. Our team can evaluate the existing structure, determine what's needed, and develop a repair approach that works for the application.

From identifying the problem to engineering the solution, Smithwick Engineering can help.

A throwback to an incredible project in India!

Smithwick Engineering completed the lift planning for this massive dome, measuring 410 feet in diameter and weighing approximately 600,000 pounds.

Noah Smithwick traveled all the way to India to provide on-site support for the operation and see the planning through to ex*****on.

A pretty impressive lift, and an even better example of engineering in action.

Don't wait for a problem to find one ⚠️

Routine crane inspections help identify wear, damage, and potential issues before they lead to downtime, costly repairs, or safety incidents. A proactive inspection program keeps your equipment operating safely and helps ensure every lift starts with confidence.

Find the issue before the issue finds you.

CRANE TIP TUESDAY ⚠️

Before putting a crane to work, take the time to inspect it. Check the hook, wire rope, controls, brakes, and other critical components for signs of wear, damage, or anything that may affect safe operation.

A few minutes of inspection can prevent a much bigger problem.

⚠️ Safety Tip of the Week

A successful lift starts with proper planning. Taking the time to understand the load, verify crane capacity, and inspect your equipment can help prevent accidents and keep everyone on the jobsite safe.

Know the load. Know the limits. Lift safely.
