✨March Maintenance projects continue….

A few months ago my siblings & I went through our family’s old photo boxes. We divvied them up and picked our favorites to keep. My goal was to create an album to keep at my own home. It feels so great knowing I can pull out the album at any time and know it contains all my faves! 💖

The toughest part was discarding photos of people and places from my past…In the end, knowing I had a collection of only the most meaningful pictures to capture a specific time or event was worth the work and nice to lighten the load of my keep pile.

🤓Here are a few tips for sorting photos of your own:

* Sort now, enjoy later! No one wants to be sorting through an old box of photos at the age of 80. Your kids don’t want to be gifted a box of old photos to sort through when you’re no longer here. You and your family will enjoy the photos so much more if they’re in order and ready to be enjoyed now, rather than a huge box of photos without order.
* Keep the ones you love..album-worthy! Just a handful from a specific trip or event is sufficient enough to recall that memory (ex. you don’t need 20 pics of slightly different mountain views to remind you of an epic trip to Colorado).
* Imagine your album/keep pile telling a story of your past. Toss any scenic photos that you can’t even place or any photos with people you barely know.

A couple years ago I implemented March Maintenance in our home (in the spirit of the March Madness basketball tourney this month). I have used this time to tackle house projects that never quite make it up the priority list but would be SO nice to get crossed off!

I’m sharing this with you – let’s call it a challenge! There are 4 full weeks this month. Each week, try to tackle one of those projects on your list.

Here is a recent project I worked on…the dreaded boxes/bins of miscellaneous tools and spare parts. After throwing out things I know I won’t use anymore, categorizing and labeling, it looks much better! Not only is it easier to see what we’ve got for effortless retrieval, it will also help avoid purchasing duplicates now that I have an idea of what’s contained.

✨Hello Friends! Please join me tomorrow as I kick off an Accountability Challenge! 10 days to declutter 10 areas of our homes.

Every morning-ish I will be posting a video of myself completing that day’s challenge. I hope this will motivate you to check out that area of your own home and tidy it up!

Let’s keep in mind - PROGRESS over perfection 🙌🏻✨ Any little bit of time spent on an area is better than nothing!

When your things don’t have a designated place in your home, clutter can accumulate quickly!

✨Try to avoid setting things aside for later. That later can turn into days, months, even years for some people. Decide on a “home” for something and be consistent about returning that item to the same spot next time you use it! You can always adjust and rehome as needed.

Clutter-free 2023 - Week 1: Commit to a great year right now!

Start the year off with a sense of control by making a plan to get & STAY organized! Be realistic with your goals and be honest with yourself when it comes to purging. If you get stuck, ask yourself these questions when it comes time to sort & declutter your items:

*How long have I owned it?
*How often do I use it?
*When was the last time I used it?

Have your cords gotten out of control? 😳🤯

Whether you have your tech-related items sprinkled throughout the home or thrown in a random drawer, chances are some of your equipment is obsolete. Don’t waste space by keeping these items, especially if you don’t have the counterpart anymore!

The “Before” photo consists of all the cords, chargers, etc. throughout my clients’ home. After sorting, looking up brands and determining which pieces were still needed, we were able to whittle down to the “After” photo 🤩 Not only did she save a ton of space but Yikes! What a mess to deal with if someone ever had to look for something.

*As a reminder, cords, chargers and old devices should not be thrown in the trash. Check out Best Buy, Staples or other local spots to dispose of these items properly 🤓
