Well for those of you wondering about a status update on my 56 Dodge shop truck. Here ya go! The 383 stroker engine and the turbo 350 transmission are set in the truck! Next will be lining up the positioning and setting the motor mounts and transmission cross member. It’s looking like minimal cutting on the firewall will be needed. Kustomize Everything! In 2025 I made two of these three different metal Kustom bead rolled Windfield Custom Shop logo panels. One went to my friend Gene Windfield. The second one was sent to the Detroit Autorama where my friend Shaggy LeBlanc presented it as an award to a vehicle Gene would have liked. This was given to a kid who happened to own what is possibly the last truck Gene chopped!
Fast forward to today I received a message from his dad thanking me for making the panel and how much it means to them to have it as part of their car show display. I am very honored to have my Kustom Bead Rolling be a part of this father son team! Thank you for continuing the legacy of Gene Windfield and building the next generation of our hobby. Somedays you just have a bad day in the shop. I broke the bell housing on my transmission. A huge Thank you you and my highest recommendation goes out to Morehart's Weld Repair & Custom Fabrication for the incredible customer service and extremely high quality workmanship. Greg did a fantastic job tig welding the bell housing back together. Thank you to Brett Hoyt for the assistance bolting the engine and transmission up this afternoon. Factory crossmember was in the way on my 56 Dodge truck. As you can see it has been previously cut up. I decided it wasn’t worth the effort to rebuild it especially since its in the way for the transmission motor installation. I will be redesigning this with a bolt in crossmember after the installation is completed. Kustomize Everything! Making it Happen! www.hoboshotrodgarage.com
