Received from one of our Vendors last week . Where and when does this all end ??
SPECIAL ALERT! – Midwest Aluminum Prices are at an all-time high and continue to climb.
The US Section 232 Tariff on Aluminum remains at 50%, for all countries, with no exceptions.
As a result:
The Midwest Average price of Aluminum in December is up 56% from the January 2025 average.
In the first week of January, the current MW cost of Aluminum is already up an additional 6.5% from last month’s MWA.
In addition, the conversion cost for 2026 (the cost we pay to convert the Aluminum billet into an extrusion) has increased by roughly 12% over 2025 levels.
Unfortunately, we have absorbed as much as we can and now have no choice but to pass on these increases. To that end, Aluminum prices for finished Sheet and Extrusions could increase by at least $0.25/lb to as much as $0.50/lb over the course of the next 30-60 days, depending on the product.
For existing contracts and open orders, pricing will be honored according to the terms in effect at the time of the order. However, all new orders shipped after Feb 1st may see a price increase. Unfortunately, most of our inventory is committed to open orders, and because of how fast we turn our inventory, we will not be able to honor any orders that are in excess of your monthly “standard volume”.
You should expect increases throughout the month as we restock with higher priced materials. Your EMS salesperson will work with you on an order-by-order basis.
We understand that these unprecedented times and rising raw material costs can impact your business. We want to assure you that, as the leading Value Add Wholesale Aluminum distributor in the US, we take seriously our responsibility to communicate these changes in the market. We will continue to work hard to communicate and limit the impact on our loyal partners.
Our goal is to be your Preferred and Most Trusted Resource for high quality aluminum product Solutions.
