Facilities moving high volumes of material every day need vertical lift solutions that can keep pace with the demand without creating bottlenecks in the flow. VRCs are replacing forklifts for floor-to-floor transfers, cutting travel time and reducing the risk of product damage in tight aisles.

Conveyor-integrated scissor lifts are keeping pallet flow continuous without manual intervention at transfer points. And AMR-compatible lift systems are syncing with autonomous mobile robots so material keeps moving without human touchpoints slowing the line down. When the layout, volume, or cycle rate pushes past what standard equipment covers, that is where custom engineering starts. 📦

One of the most common misconceptions in speccing a lift is that higher capacity automatically means a larger footprint, and in most facilities that is a constraint the floor plan simply cannot accommodate. Autoquip engineers high capacity lift systems around the space available from the start of the spec, whether the application calls for a low-profile design, a compact build inside a tight production cell, or a system that has to fit through a standard freight elevator before it ever reaches the install site. Capacity and footprint get solved together, not one at the expense of the other. ⚙️

Designing a lift system that operates fully submerged in saltwater, avoids any contamination of the surrounding habitat, fits through a standard freight elevator for installation, and keeps both the animal and handlers safe throughout the process is not something you solve with off-the-shelf equipment.

When a leading aquarium needed a reliable way to raise large sharks for routine health assessments, Autoquip engineered a custom 316 stainless steel carousel lift with a half-moon platform shaped to match the pool geometry, a closed-loop freshwater hydraulic system to eliminate contamination risk, and slip-resistant FRP grating across the surface, with every component rated for full submersion. There is no standard lift for an application like this, and that is exactly the point. 🦈

When an assembly plant needs to rotate 40,000 lb. valves and floor space is not negotiable, the engineering solution has to account for both. Autoquip's custom "PacMan" Tilter gets its name from the wide cutout in the platform that cradles the valve in place as it rotates a full 90 degrees in 30 seconds, all without extending past its own base frame. It is the kind of application where the constraints of the job drive every decision in the design. ⚙️

When a facility is running 70 lifts across a single production floor, every detail in the build has to hold up to the demand of daily, high-output assembly. Autoquip American Tork Lift series units are customized to keep operators at the right working height throughout the shift, with oversized platforms that handle multiple assemblies at once, built-in power access, and protective surfaces that keep custom finishes intact during production. These lifts have been running in the field for decades and are still delivering the same performance they were engineered for from the start. ⚙️

Manual material handling is one of the most persistent sources of inefficiency and injury risk in manufacturing, and most facilities underestimate how much it's actually costing them. A few extra seconds per cycle, quality variation that traces back to inconsistent operator positioning, and fatigue that compounds across shifts are all costs that are easy to overlook in isolation but add up significantly over time. Our latest blog covers where manual handling creates the most strain and inefficiency on the production floor, the lift and positioning solutions best suited to address it, and the measurable impact on safety, throughput, and assembly quality.

Ways to reduce manual material handling in manufacturing. Improve safety, ergonomics, and efficiency with lift and positioning solutions.

Modern intralogistics operations rely on conveyors, AGVs, AS/RS systems, and multi-level storage, all working together, but when material flow breaks down between those systems, the whole operation pays the price. Our latest blog covers the most common material flow challenges across warehouse and distribution environments, including vertical movement constraints, conveyor transfer inefficiencies, and inconsistent load positioning, along with the lift solutions best suited to solve them and the measurable benefits of getting it right.

Before investing in a lift solution, there are some critical questions every facility manager and engineer should be asking, and the answers say a lot about whether a standard lift will actually work for your operation. 🔧

If you find yourself second-guessing your current setup, it may be time to explore what a custom solution looks like for your facility. Autoquip specializes in applications that fall outside the catalog, engineering custom solutions built specifically to meet the demands of your facility. 💡

From marine facilities and aerospace manufacturers to candy producers and distribution centers, the challenges Autoquip has solved span nearly every industry imaginable. A stainless steel carousel lift for safe shark handling. A precision air-powered system for counterweight installation in a confined space. A scissor lift integrated into a recreational vehicle assembly line. A high-capacity pan lift for a facility with no room for a ramp or pit. These are real projects, real challenges, and real solutions, and there are plenty more where those came from. Explore our full library of case studies : autoquip.com/case-studies/
