Booking a service through apps such as Angie or Handy may seem like a convenient option for cleaning or other services. With just a few clicks, you can book a service, pay for it and wait for the technician to arrive. However, while it may seem like an easy option, there are several cons that you should be aware of.

One of the biggest issues with these services is the unreliable quality of service. Many of these services do not vet their technicians or provide them with proper training, resulting in subpar work. Moreover, these services keep up to 60% of the service cost, leaving the technicians to provide their own equipment and materials. As a result, experienced technicians are unlikely to accept these jobs, leaving customers with underwhelming work at a premium cost.

Customers may also face unknown charges and receive unfair estimates for the job. They may not know how to explain their situation, which can result in a much lower estimate from the service than what is required to complete the job.

We recommend reaching out to a local company before hiring from these services. Local companies typically have better vetted and trained technicians, and they provide fair compensation to their technicians. If you're unsure if a company is legitimate, you can look them up on the state Secretary of State website.

Save yourself the frustration and disappointment by hiring local! Have a blessed weekend!
