entirely in my arms
and like most things,
there was no alarm
to tell me that
these moments have passed;
to tell me you'd
outgrown my grasp
to tell me which time
would be the last."

These moments are so precious and so fleeting. We think we'll remember the way they yawned. The way they scrunched their face when they stretch. But at time goes on and they grow before us, it starts to blur together.
Moms, please. Take the initiative. Get these moments documented. Get the date on the calendar before your baby arrives, before the fatigue of those first few weeks come. Their tiny hand will only wrap around your finger for so long. 🤍

My heart still melts over this session. 💓
On another note - now that the weather is beginning to crack into spring, I'm starting to hear some buzz about Mother's Day/motherhood sessions.

Now that I'm a mom, this resonates so much more.

Before we knew anything at all, someone was there for us. Loving us. Taking care of us. Feeding us. Providing for us. We never asked for it. It was just there. Like God's love. Always constant. Always available. There for us, before we were even aware of it, and still now.

3 things I wish I knew sooner:

1. It's possible to be a SAHM and have a career. Being home with them during these early years is irreplaceable. If I am intentional with my time, I don't have to be away from my babies for 40+ hours a week to make a living.

2. I don't have to say yes to signing my little ones up for every activity. Sometimes it's good to say no. To intentionally be less busy and give yourself (and your kids) some margin to breath and have some slow days.

3. Everything doesn't have to be structured. It's okay to just let them play.
