MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT:

It is official! I am running for judge of the 8th Circuit Court in Ionia and Montcalm Counties. The 8th Circuit Court has two judges and there will now be a vacancy. As such, I am running for the open, non-incumbent seat. But I need your help!

Over the last 38 years, I have worked off and on in various capacities in the legal system. I have been a public safety officer (Police-Fire-EMS), bail bondsman, private investigator, and more.

In 2012, I opened my own law firm and have been dedicated to fighting for the rights of those accused. But, what makes me unique is that I also went back to police work. I am the only criminal defense attorney who also works as a police officer. It is the best way that I can make sure the law works the way it is supposed to.

There have been days when I have fought in court for a client and got a case dismissed, then went home, changed out of the 3-piece suit and put on a police uniform and worked an overnight 12-hour shift to protect my community.

No one else will bring to the bench what I have to offer. I literally have worked on both sides, doing my best to make the law work. This is what I do everyday.

Throughout the last decade and a half, I have taught law students as an adjunct law professor, written books, presented at legal seminars, and donated hundreds of hours to my community. Now I need your support.

While we, as a country, regroup from another disaster...with the media still trying to stir the pot racially, politically, morally and try and keep us all at each other's throats, and fake news is actually no longer fiction...we need to put aside our differences and come together, and love and help one another. We need to protect our families, our friends and our fellow man. We need to be that line in the sand and hold that line against the evil in this country and in this world. Collectively, we can make a difference. A difference for Houston and others suffering. No longer is it funny or amusing that a fat little dictator in North Korea is intent on building weapons of mass destruction - purposely made to destroy the United States or challenge our way of life. It's not ok that armed robbers are preying on the victims of Houston. What happened in Charlotte is not ok. We need to pull together. A lot of people have given their lives in service to our country. Military, Police, Fire, and that's just the beginning of the list. We need to remember what is important to us. For starters, Lee Greenwood's song puts some things in perspective and was a rallying cry after 9-11. I recommend listening to it. Take the words to heart and try and put the idea to use in your daily lives. Don't forget God either. We need to turn to him and ask him for help and direction: Here are the lyrics-for your convenience:
