Once a month, the Deister Concentrator crew steps away from the floor and sits down together to connect as a team and share a meal.

Today, that meant Panda Express and some quality time with our partners at Shar Systems. Not a bad way to wrap up the week! 🐼

A rectangular concentrating table and a rhomboidal one look similar at first glance. The difference shows up in your recovery numbers.

On a rectangular deck, the riffles span the full width, and intermediate-density particles, the ones carrying your rare earth minerals, travel a short path before discharge.

On a rhomboidal deck, the geometry follows the natural diagonal flow of the pulp. The particles that are hardest to separate get the most working riffle area, exactly where they need it.

Separating monazite from zircon and ilmenite means working in a 0.2 to 0.6 g/cm³ density window.

Deister's rhomboidal deck aligns table shape with the natural diagonal flow of stratified pulp, giving intermediate-density particles ~75% more working riffle area than a conventional rectangular deck.

More riffle area in the critical zone means sharper separations, higher-grade concentrates, and less rare earth material lost to tailings.

The U.S. rare earth processing bottleneck isn't just about supply chains—it's about separation technology.

When you're separating minerals with density differences of just 0.2-0.6 g/cm³, equipment design determines project economics.

Physical beneficiation through gravity concentration is the critical first step that determines everything downstream. Get it right, and downstream processing volume drops by 90%. Get it wrong, and project economics don't work.

Why recovery rates matter for rare earth projects: https://www.deisterconcentrator.com/resources/deister-news/the-rare-earth-recovery-challenge-why-physical-beneficiation-matters

Rare earth processing begins with gravity concentration. Equipment that delivers higher recovery rates reduces capital costs, operating expenses, and environmental impact.
