Why does aluminum TIG welding sound different than TIG welding other metals? Aluminum welding requires alternating current to break up the oxidized layer. This is because its oxidized layers melting point is much higher than aluminums melting point. The settings must be just right to stay on the fine line of welding it vs blowing a hole in it (especially with thinner material).

Did you know that aluminum and stainless steel welding is usually best done with this technique? Fun fact: Alex is actually very talented at this and spent a good while focusing solely on TIG welding. This is part of why his work is so precise and accurate.
