If you’ve never heard of warm-up thefts, you’re not alone. Leaving your car started and unattended will make your vehicle more likely to be targeted by car thieves. While it may be more convenient to let your car warm up alone in the snow, Westlake PD recommends everyone accompany their car while they warm it up this winter or use a keyless remote start. We have had vehicles stolen from gas stations when left running while unattended or with keys inside.

Remember to lock your vehicle and take keys inside wherever and whenever you park it!
