Welcome to Monday, another cold somewhat sunny day seems to be in our midst. Make it a good day, ( at least in your mind)!!! PtP:
A young family member just purchased their first new car! So proud and of course this car is state of the art?? Welp throw that nonsense right out the window. When this young person describe to me a that the car could be started WITHOUT a key, said vehicle really "didn't have one"??,,,,,of course being the mature adult I stated big whoop!!!! take a seat...........Ah where do we start, how bout, PEDAL START IGNITION!!! What? The pedal start ignition relied on a vacuum system like many other components in the early model cars. From 1940 to 1960 GM installed these switches. The last GM model to have pedal start ignition was the 1960 Buick LeSabre. To start this vehicle without your key, you simply depress your accelerator pedal to the floor, (or at least 70% to the floor), a switch is mounted on the car's carburetor that becomes activated , makes contact with the throttle to open to 1/2 way position. A ball is inside this switch. The ball is pulled out of the way once the engine cranks and is idling, to cease contact. Bingo! That's it, time to take Gram to bingo!! These ignitions were also installed on all Chrysler products about the same time frame with one exception. The "keyless" start switch was mounted on the dash, but worked the same way except you push said "start button", much like the new cars of 2021! Chrysler introduced its first key only system in 1950. Ford motor company used the "pedal start" like GM along same time frame. 1940-1960! Guess our cars today are not so high tech after all. Seems like looking to the past might work, and maybe we all could learn from the innovative ways parts were utilized, with little or no waste of space or materials!
As always, Good Health to all and thanks for your support!
Stay Safe!

The envelope has been opened!!!.....

Good Morning and a Fabulous Friday has been voted on and deemed necessary!!!!

PtP: "Fender" an English term for part of an automobile,
motorcycle: or other vehicle body that has the wheel well framed by said fender. Named appropriately, to "fend" off the elusive attack of road debris, as not to throw items or liquid "fended" off into a rotating tire.
What is quite amazing is that on all vehicles, each part is definitely unique in it's own way, at the same time working with other parts to accomplish said goal whatever that is at the time of operation.
So the next time you start your vehicle, keep in mind as stated before, maintenance is the key! The climate is changing it seems in so many ways, we all need to be prepared from our rides, up!
Thanks for popping in and take care of yourself.
Life is short, make sunshine a priority!!
Of course to open another conversation,
the late great Stevie Ray Vaughan played a great "FENDER"........
......just a point to ponder!!!!..................

Hello and hope your Thursday is off to a great start, or your car started, either way it's a win. Enjoy this day.
PtP: Circa 1998, South Africa where crimes of violence have been on the rise, inclusive of invasion, robbery, murder and car-jacking. Johannesburg, South Africa had become a city under siege with such crimes, the foremost car-jacking. Persons intent to do harm will approach a vehicle when stopped at a traffic light and try to overtake said vehicle and owner, eventually stealing car and at best "ditching" the owner. Enter Mr. Chari Fourie and the car
manufacturer BMW. Mr. Fourie invented the "Blaster" that BMW offered as an option to their consumers in South Africa. The Blaster herein also known as the BMW Flamethrower is a hot item folks, literally. If consumers in South Africa choose this option, the Blaster was installed on their BMW to provide certain protection for the driver against said criminal vying to do harm. A switch is mounted on the dash of the BMW which has to be turned to be "armed". Another switch is mounted at the driver's foot which responds to foot pressure by the driver. 14,000 volt spark with four jets spewing liquid petroleum over said spark to ignite the fire flames to be thrown from vehicle. Fanning flames from under the doors of the car to basically torch whatever intends said harm to car or driver. Blaster was legal at the time in South Africa when used in self defense only to stop a potential car-jacker, thief. Wow, I would not want to even think about what could possibly go wrong???
Gives new meaning to no smoking in my BMW!!
Keep it real folks, and if you purchase a used BMW watch out for the switch you turn that goes red!!! Do not move your left foot!!
All kidding aside, thanks for checking in.
Stay Cool !!

Hello, Greetings and Welcome to 2021!!
Starters, fenders, and tires, oh My!!
PtP: HOT ROD. What comes to your mind? 1968 Nova SS, 1965 Mustang, 1965 Belvedere, any of the above?? The definition of hot rod is: just about any car, truck, or motorcycle that has been modified for more power or speed. Pretty straight forward, right?
Big wrong! My eyes have been opened that hot rod enthusiasts
speak their own language. Some examples:
"Mouse" - nickname for a small block Chev V8 engine
"Nosed"- Trim has been removed from the hood
"Frenched" - Trim has been incorporated into the body, usually referring to headlights or taillights
"Restomod “ - A car that has been cosmetically restored largely to original stock, but enhanced with modern mechanicals
(ie: fuel injected engine).
Only the tip of the engine block with this lingo, which is quite
cool! Hats off to these folks with restoring our past, and sharing the beauty of some cars that speak hot rodder!!!
As always thanks for checkin' in and we appreciate your time.
If we can help you with your automobile needs, give us a call.
Stay Safe Good Health to all in the coming year

Good Morning and Hello to a beautiful cold Friday on deck!
PtP: Did you know that holding a remote car key closer to your head said remote key can double the range of said functions, because our skulls act as amplifiers to increase said signal ! So next time you have time and go to WalMart, and you think your remote is sluggish, just hold it to your head, and viola, car found.
However if you loose your remote, throw it by "accident" or the remote has just quit working, Sibum's can help you with ignition switches, keys to match and locks. We stock do-dads,
thing-a -ma-jings and yes buttons! Thanks for checking in, make it a good day.

Good Warm Thursday to you. Hope you are all safe during and after the "nor'easter dig out". Wax up the snowboards! PtP:
Navigating after a big snow storm can be somewhat nerve racking and frustrating. Even for our essential, must report workers, and civil servants. Enter the United States military. In 1940 the US military produced it's first 4 wheel drive vehicle. This vehicle was made of tank-like steel, and could muster it's way through snow, sand, water and tough terrain. Ta-da, yes folks I am sure you have heard of this badge. JEEP was introduced by the armed forces to be used for transportation just about anywhere! The rest is history. JEEP is still going strong today, and even we civilians can enjoy the ride. So wherever you travel use caution. If you find yourself in a situation needing parts to keep your JEEP, or other vehicle on the road, give us a call. We can help or try to direct you to help. If your horn gets stuck in this windy cold weather, remember most car horns honk in the key of "F". Of course we sell good, tested used cars horns too!!(in the key of F)..Keep Smiling .....Thanks for checking in...........Good Health to You!!
