These extreme temperatures have taken their toll on a lot of ac's this summer. And if your one of the unfortunate ones that's usually not the end of it. A recent conversation with a customer reminded me how often equipment is oversized and how little most non-HVAC people know about proper sizing. In Air Conditioning, bigger is not only not better, it's worse. See below for just seven of the reasons.

As of Jan 1, 2015 the new law will dictates that hvac systems that use the R-22 refrigerant will no longer be manufactured..What this means to you is that after these units are gone if either your coil, air handler, or condenser should need replacing you'll be forced to buy a complete system (usually at more than twice the cost of replacing the bad part. So if youre thinking of replacing either the coils or condenser, now might be the time. Also next year the minimum efficiency is moving from 13 seer to 14.
