Sing it with us: "And I would do anything for LOVE... but I WON'T do THAT..." πΉπΈπΆ
Meat Loaf was a Dallas native. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas, attended Lubbock Christian College and what is now the University of North Texas.
βBat Out of Hell,β Meat Loaf's mega-selling collaboration with songwriter Jim Steinman, came out in 1977 and became one of the bestselling records in history.
He was known for such theatrical, dark-hearted anthems as βParadise By the Dashboard Light,β βTwo Out of Three Ainβt Bad,β and βIβd Do Anything for Love (But I Wonβt Do That),β has died. He was 74.
The singer born Marvin Lee Aday died Thursday, according to a family statement provided by his longtime agent Michael Greene.
βOur hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight,β the statement said. βWe know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man... From his heart to your soulsβ¦donβt ever stop rocking!β
No cause of death or other details were given, but Aday had numerous health scares over the years.
He maintained close ties with his fans through his manic live shows, social media and his many television, radio and film appearances, including βFight Clubβ and cameos on βGleeβ and βSouth Park.β
Aday was singing and acting in high school (Mick Jagger was an early favorite, so was Ethel Merman).
