We’re turning 40, and the celebration starts now!

All month long, we’re looking back at the people, projects, and milestones that have shaped RWB into who we are today.

RWB Consulting Engineers was founded in 1986 as Reed, Wells, Benson and Company by James H. Reed Jr., John A. Wells Jr., P.E., and Eric T. Benson, P.E. Their vision and commitment to excellence laid the foundation we continue to build on today.

Proud to have been part of the engineering team behind this incredible workforce education facility. This project was designed to support a diverse range of vocational and technical programs, including robotics, cosmetology, computer science, IT, welding, machining, HVAC, and healthcare professions.

What makes this building unique is the variety of specialized instructional environments brought together under one roof, from advanced technology labs and simulation spaces to applied learning areas for barbering, spa, and cosmetology programs. The facility also includes flexible training rooms, collaborative common spaces, corporate college amenities, and administrative support areas designed to serve both students and the broader community.

A rewarding project that blends technical complexity with real-world impact, creating a space where education, workforce development, and innovation come together.

This project came to life in partnership with Huckabee.

How often do we rely on tables, charts, and rules of thumb without fully understanding the math behind them? In this insightful article, Associate Principal Michael Danielson, CPD, GPD, explores the core mathematical foundations that drive effective plumbing engineering design. As the longtime Education Chairman for the DFW ASPE Chapter, Danielson brings decades of experience across aviation, healthcare, municipal, and institutional projects, offering a practical perspective grounded in real-world application.

From algebra and unit conversions to real-world system applications, it highlights how understanding the “why” behind the numbers leads to smarter, more effective design solutions.

A great read for anyone looking to strengthen their technical foundation and elevate their design approach.

Most people have heard or even said to themselves, “I will never use algebra in the real world.” However, most don’t realize they use algebra every day.

Last week with VLK Dallas was a great reminder that learning doesn’t have to be traditional to be impactful. Our 2024 IECC Jeopardy session brought energy, discussion, and plenty of insight around the 2024 International Energy Conservation Code.

These updates mark some of the most substantial shifts in energy standards in over a decade, changes that will shape how we approach building design and construction moving forward.

At RWB, we focus on making complex code updates approachable, relevant, and actionable for the teams we work with.

Let’s bring a 2024 IECC session to your team: https://rwb.net/contact-us/

RWB team members had a great time attending the ASHRAE Dallas Monthly Chapter Meeting, “Stop Winging It: How to Write HVAC Controls that Actually Work the First Time,” presented by Ryan Soo.

The session shared valuable insights on how ASHRAE Guideline 36 supports smarter HVAC controls to improve efficiency, comfort, and system performance, breaking down key concepts such as trim-and-respond logic and zone-driven resets.

Always great to stay connected with industry peers and continue learning ways to deliver smarter, more reliable HVAC solutions.

Meet our 2026 Summer Interns! 🌟

Mariela is the loudest and proudest member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2027. She is an Architectural Engineering major and an avid AEI member who’s excited to learn more about the world of MEP-T design through Revit and site visits.

Andre attends the University of North Texas and is a Mechanical and Energy Engineering major. He’s excited to collaborate with others and learn more about how building systems are designed and coordinated as a complete project. He enjoys collecting vinyl records during his free time.

We are so excited to have them on board and look forward to watching them grow during their time here at RWB!
