The days are getting shorter and outdoor light intensity is decreasing rapidly. Especially now, with orchids, it is important to keep a close eye on your screen settings. This helps ensure that you continue to achieve the optimal light level in the greenhouse.

“During this period, regularly check your setpoints and adjust them where necessary”, advises climate consultant Bart Bakker. “You not only want to achieve the right light level in the greenhouse at any given moment, but also reach the desired daily light integral by the end of the day.”

This requires active control. A setting that worked well a few weeks ago may no longer be optimal due to changing outdoor conditions. PARperfect helps you find that balance and respond to changing light conditions.

“Especially during this period, outdoor conditions can fluctuate significantly. So keep a critical eye on your screen settings. Actively managing light is becoming increasingly important to help the plant perform at its best.”

A good light strategy is not fixed throughout the year. Especially as the seasons change, it remains important to observe, check and adjust. 🌸

What happens when airflow becomes part of your climate strategy? 💭

Join Svensson on September 9 at 10:00AM for an interactive workshop exploring how vertical airflow impacts greenhouse climate, energy use, and crop performance. The workshop will be held ahead of the Quebec Grower Summit.

During the session, Paul Arena and Pieter Mol will share real-world trial results, proven strategies from commercial greenhouses, and facilitate discussion so growers can ask questions, exchange ideas, and learn from one another.

Light management has become one of the most important tools growers have for influencing crop performance, climate, and energy use.

In the article below, Svensson Climate Consultant Paul Arena shares how double-screen strategies and systems like PARperfect are helping growers take a more precise approach to light management.

💬 Paul explains: “Shifting to double screens compared with single screens is really the biggest technology jump.”

By combining multiple screens with different functions, growers can create more uniform light conditions, improve climate control, and gain greater flexibility throughout the year.

Have you registered for the Quebec Grower Summit yet?

Don't miss Svensson's Pieter Mol on September 9 at 1:00 PM on “Creating more resilient greenhouse climates through precision light control”.

As greenhouse production moves through wide seasonal swings, managing light becomes increasingly complex. In this session, Pieter will explore practical strategies for diffused light, shading, and PAR-based decision-making, and how they can help growers create more stable greenhouse climates, reduce crop stress, and improve consistency across fruits, vegetables, soft fruits, and ornamentals.

We hope to see you there! Register for the Quebec Grower Summit today: https://bit.ly/4ztLZ2L

When we talk about thrips, decisions related to their exclusion can also influence airflow, humidity, and the climate conditions inside the greenhouse.

That is why, when facing challenges such as Thrips Parvispinus or Frankliniella Occidentalis, the question should not only be how to reduce their entry, but also how to maintain the conditions crops need to develop and achieve good quality.

In our latest Warmzones Grower's Blog article, "Beyond exclusion: What growers should consider when facing thrips", Alán Falomir shares why this topic is not limited to insect protection and is also part of the conversation around greenhouse climate.

The greenhouse has a way of telling its story.

Sometimes you see it in the crop. Sometimes in the climate data. Sometimes in a conversation that starts with a simple question.

That's where good climate decisions begin: working through challenges side by side with a trusted partner.

Bright conditions, evenly distributed ☀️

Harmony spreads light across the crop to reduce stress from direct radiation and support more uniform growing conditions.

🌹 How does light management influence flower quality?

This was one of the topics shared by Martha Alape during Veiling Holambra Field Day 2026 in Brazil.

Throughout the presentation, Martha discussed the role that light and shading play in the development of cut flowers, and how these decisions can influence flower uniformity, color, and overall quality. A key topic for growers seeking to better understand how crops respond to greenhouse conditions.

We would like to thank AgroCultivo for the invitation and all attendees who joined this day dedicated to floriculture 🌸🌷.

More air movement. Fewer gaps. Greater energy savings. 🌱

In our latest article, climate consultant Joris Vermonden shares his insights on the role of vertical ventilation in the energy transition within greenhouse horticulture.

By using vertical ventilation in combination with a double screen system, growers can keep their screens closed for longer periods. This creates a more uniform greenhouse climate and can lead to up to 20% in additional energy savings.

Joris explains how smart air movement contributes to a healthy crop, a stable climate, and more efficient energy management. Read the full story here: https://bit.ly/4f4JV7M
