John Berchmans: As our community continues to work on ways we can improve and enrich the curriculum at SJB we have discovered there are funding needs in the school’s arts programs, so we have formed Eagles Rising: The SJB Visual & Performing Arts Booster to close the gap on the equipment and materials these teachers require to fulfill their vision for our kids. Our committee would like to help the

school develop an arts programs that’s reflective of the rich artistic tradition we enjoy in the Logan Square community. Thank you for your generous support in helping our committee get this project off the ground!

Currents Arts Program Needs
You might ask what sorts of things we are raising money for? How about specifics for each area of interest:

Fine Arts
1) Shelving unit for classroom from Container Store is top of the list
2) Adjustable height chairs to accommodate the age range of students, K through 8
3) Photography supplies + guest photographer for lecture/training
4) Video supplies
5) Art furniture (easels, art desks)
6) Pottery wheel/kiln

Musical Instruments for classroom
1) Updated Orff Instruments for Children: glockenspiels, xylophones, metallophones and tone bars
2) Various percussion instruments
3) Set of ukuleles and a curriculum for them
4) Recording equipment
5) Classroom sound system
6) Student headphones

Professional Development
1) Singing/vocal production classes
2) Orff techniques classes
3) Music education and child development classes

Performing Arts Sound System
1) 2-3 stage monitor wedges
2) 1 or 2 additional overhead microphones
3) Hard case for rack gear
4) “Speed bump” for cords at shows in school gym
5) Various cord replacements from wear and tear
