Honoring the fallen on 9/11 with "Flags of Remembrance" (Romare Bearden Park, uptown Charlotte, NC -- funding fire safety scholarships at UNCC via our annual Golf Tournament proceeds ... “We will never forget …” Not just about what happened to so many people on September 11, 2001 and how our lives have changed but “we will never forget” about how Steve and so many firefighters lived their lives an

d were always there to help us. The charter of the foundation is to provide educational scholarships, donate funds and/or equipment to local emergency services to increase the safety of the public and first responders, and hold an annual memorial weekend to honor Firefighter Steven Coakley, FDNY Engine 217 & those lost on 9/11. The foundation is funded by several annual fundraising events as well as being financially supported in many other ways. The purpose is to raise funds throughout the year to support the charters of the foundation. In the past these events have included silent auctions, private monetary donations, restaurant sponsor proceeds, business donations and many, many hours of great people volunteering their time. There are several upcoming events that are planned for the upcoming year not only to raise funds for the foundation but so “we will never forget” Steve and all the other heroes that we have lost.

We are honored to partner with The Green Room Community Theatre for this meaningful production of Come From Away, which reflects on the events and lasting impact of September 11, 2001. We are grateful for the opportunity to come together with the theatre to keep the stories, memories, and reflection of September 11 alive for future generations. The show will open the evening of Friday, September 11th and runs through September 27th. We are very thankful for the generous raffle they have set up to support our foundation.

We are honored to partner with Theatre Charlotte for this meaningful production of Come From Away, which reflects on the events and lasting impact of September 11, 2001. We are grateful for the opportunity to come together with the theatre to keep the stories, memories, and reflection of September 11 alive for future generations. The show will open the evening of Friday, September 11th and runs through October 4th.

We're honored to partner with the FF Steven Coakley Foundation and its annual Flags of Remembrance installation at Romare Bearden Park, which honors Firefighter Steven Coakley of FDNY Engine 217 and the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

As Come From Away opens on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, the story of the kindness, generosity, and humanity that emerged in the aftermath of that day carries special meaning. Our cast will have the unique opportunity to participate in placing flags, and Foundation members will join us at our opening night performance.

We invite you to visit the Flags of Remembrance installation throughout the weekend of September 11 to pause, remember, and honor those we lost.
