Restocking one of our best sellers for the Mountain Heritage Arts & Crafts Festivals coming up this weekend, September 25th, 26th, and 27th at the Jefferson County WV Fairgrounds. We will be there demonstrating, so follow the sounds of anvil and hammer and check out these copper scoops before they are gone! We have never left an event with any of these left over so don't miss out!

In between getting ready for one of our upcoming events, City of Brunswick, MD Railroad Days (October 3rd & 4th), we finished up an order for a custom knife! Check out this farrier's rasp knife with rams horn handle. Remember, blacksmiths are the original recyclers and we never let any good metal go to waste. This knife is made from an old farrier's rasp with a 5 inch blade, overall length of 10 inches. We are planning on having similar knives this upcoming show, so stay tuned for upcoming pictures!

Fresh out of the forge! Getting ready for the Mountain Heritage Arts & Crafts Festivals on September 25th, 26th, and 27th at the Jefferson County Fair Grounds in Jefferson County, WV. This is a monosteel of 5160 from a railroad spring anchor, edge hardened blade, 4.125" blade, overall length of 8.75", with cocobolo handle (Thank you Frederick Lumber Company, can't say it enough, best source of amazing wood!) and brass and mosaic pins. See you at the festival!

1000 Layer Damascus

Check out this 1000 layer Damascus large utility carry with Palemoon Ebony scales (thank you Frederick Lumber Company for your amazing selection!) and mosaic pins. It has a 6" blade and an overall length of 10". The steel is 1095 and 15N20, forged to just over 1000 layers, 1026 to be exact. This hand forged blade has been heat treated with a Japanese style hamon. We are getting ready for the Mountain Heritage Arts & Crafts Festivals on September 25th, 26th, and 27th at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Jefferson County, WV. We will be there demonstrating so stop by, see this beauty, and see us swinging the hammer!

This knife has a story to go with it....

Why 1000 layers? Well, this billet was created a little over 3 years ago. I was involved in an accident and severely damaged my left arm, detaching muscles and destroying tendons. I had to have reconstructive surgery done to repair my arm. Looking at your hand and it not doing what you tell it to do is very frustrating and through physical therapy and forge therapy, I decided with extremely limited mobility, to make a 1000 layer billet. While being made, this billet was probably dropped 1000 times, too, as I retrained my arm. Regardless if you are injured or not, set lofty goals, challenge yourself, put yourself into a position that you have to adapt, to grow and to learn. Life might and you might give yourself set backs, but these are only temporary.

Damn, these ribs are good! Check out the Smokin Sisters here at the Mountain State Art & Craft Fair! They are in booth 142 down at the end by Jackson hall. They have delicious smoked ribs, delectable sauces and other smoked and BBQ goodies! So delicious and wonderful crew!
