Cash Forge hits the road and visits Trenton Tye of Purgatory Ironworks! We drove down to Marshallville, GA to visit some friends for the weekend. Friday, I began to wonder, how close was Trenton's forge from here? We have spoken over the internet for several years, never thinking we would ever be down close enough to stop by and turns out he was just a little over an hour south from where we were. So I reached out and he was going to be home and just so happened he was having a crew working in the forge on Saturday, so we hopped in the car and drove further south to just a hop skip and a jump away from Alabama and the gulf. What a beautiful set up and an amazing forge. Shook hands, put faces to names. I want to thank him for his hospitality and for a wonderful morning, taking time away from his gathering to chew the fat, everything from blacksmithing to madness to life and passion, listening to the two old guys geeze.

From a video that was shared with me 15 years ago by Mike that we have shared far and wide, blacksmithing and beyond, that began this connection, his passion for the craft has not dwindled and that fire is still stoked.

A little flattering goes a long way! We are back in the shop, working on more items for the Mountain State Art & Craft Fair July 2nd-4th! We will be there with our table, hammer, and anvil demonstrating. Come check out the new items we are bringing and see us swinging our hammer!

Happy Mothers Day here at Crozet Arts and Crafts Festival! It is a beautiful day at the park so bring your mom out, enjoy the day, and buy her something beautiful, hand crafted with love and care. We have dinner bells for her to call in the family when dinner is ready, hooks so you can clean up all those items around the house she has been asking about, or knives and BBQ sets so you can dress and cook up a delicious dinner for her!

In March, we wrapped up another great Bladesmithing class at Hagerstown Community College! The students made knives from horseshoes, railroad spikes, and billets of steel. They made unique knives, including kitchen knives, herb choppers and blacksmith knives. They learned the fundamentals of forging blades, hardening, grinding, and hand sanding these beautiful blades. Check out the great work they did!

The classes are students centric, the class meets the students where they are at, and we have several students that have been a part of multiple classes and the class is geared for the level and experience of the student. We will be back at it again May 23rd-July 11th with the Spring series of Basic and Intermediate Blacksmithing, and Fundamentals of Bladesmithing. Send us a message if you are interested in registering and learning this age old, time honored tradition and craft, or just advancing your skills, learning to create beautiful metalwork by hand forging steel!
