It's test fit Tuesday! This customer in Pulpit Rock had us out this summer for back porch railings. He then used the rest of the summer to build a new side deck with a ramp for his dogs, and has asked us to rail in this deck as well!

These railings will be standard square tube with a heavy top rail for easy gripping. Spindles were mostly left out for the test fit, and will be filled in now that we know measurements and angles are correct. Sections will bolt together for a seamless continuous rail line.

What a beautiful morning to work outside! Not sure the camera caught it but fall colors are happening in the valley below!

Great start to the week with these front porch and handicap ramp safety railings! We had previously been to this residence for the stairs leading to the garage, the stairs in the front, and the house-side of the ramp. This time we were asked to complete the front porch railing, the other side of the front steps, and the driveway-side of the ramp.

The front porch railings feature square tube spindles. The bottom rail is a slightly larger square tube, and the top rail is a wider tubing to present a more comfortable hand grip. The stairs and ramp rails are simply the wide top rails, providing safety without interfering with the view.

And lucky for us, we finished just about 20 minutes before the rain began yesterday!

September is for side-mounts!

A year or two ago, we had the pleasure of installing simple safety rails on the house side of this handicap ramp. Now, the customer has requested we rail along the other half (plus some stairs and other areas). Today we test fit and you can see how we finagled standing the rails up when the feet are on the side!

The bars along the bottom are only to hold it together during the test fit, since the pieces are just tacked. That allows us to make adjustments without having to grind out full welds. Once the piece is welded, the bottom bars will be removed. Today, everything fit together perfectly so we will just finish the welding and remove the bottom bars before powder coating.

We took a quick vacation last week to visit family and friends. Once we got home though, it was right back to it! This customer's rails feature round tube horizontals with square tube top rails and large square posts. Because of the angles and style, we made smaller sections that bolted together at the posts. Since this customer made his decks himself, side mounts helped show off his work instead of hiding it.

And may I say, we were very happy to be in Monument with large shady trees this morning!

It's test fit Friday!

This customer is redoing his front and back decks himself (aren't they gorgeous!), and called us for railings. He's chosen horizontals with round tubes, set off by large square posts. His front railings have a pop-out that matches their front window box, so we definitely wanted to test fit the angles before finalizing the railings. We went with side mounts, so as not to spoil any of his deck work. Can't wait to see the final product!

Great morning installing this nice small backdoor rail for Campbell Homes in Meridian Ranch! We were able to accommodate a rush request for a customer who is taking possession tomorrow (phew!), to ensure they have safe use of their back stairs once they move in. Ski Lift Porch Swing!

Today's install was actually a re-install. This customer had purchased a retired Breckenridge ski lift chair, and we had turned it into a porch swing for him. Well when he had his deck redone, it necessitated re-installing the swing on the back porch. We made a few modifications to upgrade the swing function, and installed it into the new deck. Still qualifies as one of the more interesting and fun projects to figure out!

It's all about the plasma!

Today's install highlights incorporating plasma cut images with traditional welding to create beautiful, functional art. This customer needed two gates.

The outdoor gate includes a plasma cut image of her choice, surrounded by standard vertical square spindles. Since the pathway slopes up to the front of the house, we set the latch to swing on the downslope. This ensure the gate can swing all the way open without getting stuck on the higher side of the path.

The indoor gate can now be latched to keep animals away from tempting chewables in the basement, swung open, or pulled off as needed. It also features a plasma cut design and is topped with wood stained to match the house.

This home's supervisor is Asher!

And thus we complete 5 installs in 8 business days. Back to the shop to build more!

These combination steel railings with wooden top rails provide a unique aesthetic. The latching gate provides additional function.

Great install today of interior horizontal square railings! This customer previously had us remove/re-powder coat/re-install his outdoor railings. He called us back during a complete remodel of the interior of his house, for new steel railings that complement his updated indoor style.

And just for fun, Olive the dog even posed for me.
