Surf Quest was created by former professional surfers and The Arc of the St. Over the years the Surf Quest team saw a void that needed to be filled as, many men, women and children with Disabilities were missing the opportunity to enjoy the ocean and connect to a caring and sharing community of avid surfers. The vision quickly extended to all levels

of disabilities, including those men and women returning from military engagements overseas. Surf Quest is a total volunteer program supported by kindred and caring business and individuals as presenting, equipment and event sponsors. COMMUNITY INCLUSION ☺ BUILDING SELF ESTEEM ☺ NEW SOCIAL NETWORK ☺ NEW FRIENDS

Surf Quest empowers people with disabilities by providing adaptive surfing instruction and therapeutic educational programs on water recreation, and enriches lives by assisting families to access the beach and ocean together in a barrier free environment. Surf Quest will act as an advocate for accessibility to the water that will allow people with limited mobility to reach the beach (i.e. wheelchairs, assisted devices, strollers, etc.). Surf Quest will provide adaptive equipment with educational programs for the advancement of adaptive surfing. Surf Quest will develop partnerships to expand the awareness of safe adaptive aquatic recreation. Surf Quest’s “Beach Day” program is a free monthly event with trained volunteers who introduce adaptive aquatic recreation using specialized surfboards and flotation devices for anyone with a disability. All ages and abilities are welcome. This program allows family and friends to participate in outdoor recreation as ohana (family)
