We are a for-profit group seeking to develop economic opportunities for employment of Haitians in the northern coastal region of Haiti.

Our development efforts have been focused in agriculture and boutique sewing. Both areas can be started up without the necessity of expensive equipment. We
have planted 20 acres with crops that are well suited to a hot dry climate. Sisal,
Maringa, okra, peas, and herbs all grow well on our farm. Coming soon will be a
refrigerated truck that enables us to transport food items from the north to t

he
south of Haiti and back. Approximately 45% of all crops grown in Haiti rot due to
lack of access to refrigerated transport. This truck will open new markets for
farmers in all of Haiti and bring vegetables like broccoli to the north where greens
are rare. At the farm, we have about 40 bee hives. Farm workers maintain the bees and
hives and collect the honey and wax. We also buy honey and beeswax from local
bee keepers to use for retail sales and making candles. Our farm has become a
leaning center for other farmers who hope to improve their techniques and crops. We also serve as an experimental base for trying out new seeds and crops. Our
sewing boutique began slowly, all of us learning. Now we have 15 treadle sewing
machines and operators who are ready to sew most any item we bring them. The
operators are paid per piece upon acceptance of quality.

Meet Renide,
Renide is 43 years old and lives in Terrier Rouge with her husband and four children. Renide studied sewing at a small school in Terrier Rouge before joining Theona’s Girls two years ago. Prior to joining the team, Renide struggled to provide for her family as a vendor at one of the informal marketplaces in Terrier Rouge.

Hello friends! Listen to this! Angel Pillowcases is a non-profit in Birmingham, AL that brightens the days of patients in the hospital with fun and beautiful pillowcases while also raising funds for cancer research!!
☺

And to add to that, they help provide jobs in Haiti by having Theona's Girls hand-sew each pillowcase!!

This season, they are raising money to deliver 500 pillowcases to Children's of Alabama.
