The indomitable artist, undaunted by the expansive tyranny of the void, marched forth into her studio with a resounding cry:

The Fall Art Show & Sale is back, and this year there are even more reasons to come out and be part of it.

Join us November 14 and 15 at Obsidian Middle School to shop original work from more than 60 local artists from across Central Oregon. It’s a great chance to meet the people behind the art, discover something new, and directly support the artists who help make our region such a creative place to live.

Your support also reaches beyond the show itself. Events like this help Dry Canyon Arts Association continue programs that bring art into the community, including JumpStart Art, which connects local artists with elementary students and gives young people hands-on opportunities to create, experiment, and see themselves as artists.

Come for the art, stay for the community, and know that your attendance helps support both working artists and the next generation of creators.

I got some wonderful news! My painting "Between Tides", which I created as part of the Coastal Plein Air Art & W**e Festival, won the People’s Choice Award!

It’s always an honor when people notice my work and choose it as their favorite. I’m particularly thrilled that Between Tides connected with people—it’s a painting I really enjoyed making.

And to make the festival even sweeter, Between Tides went home with a lovely couple who fell in love with it at the show, and my crow painting found a home as well. Two paintings, two new homes, and a People’s Choice Award—what a wonderful weekend!

Thank you to everyone who voted, and to FRAA for another wonderful festival!

I’m getting ready for the American Impressionist Society Paint Out this week!

If you’re not familiar with a paint out, it’s essentially a plein air painting event—artists painting on site, directly from the landscape rather than working from photographs in the studio.

From Wednesday through Saturday, artists from across the country—including some of the nation’s leading impressionist painters—will be out painting throughout Central Oregon. I’m thrilled to be among them, interpreting the landscapes we’re lucky enough to call home.

I’ve got 11 freshly prepared panels ready to go, and now comes the fun part: taking them out into the landscape and seeing what happens!

On Saturday, one of my paintings will join the freshly completed work in the AIS Wet Wall at Mockingbird Gallery. And yes, Wet Wall is quite literal: these are paintings brought straight from the easels, freshly completed and, in some cases, with the paint still wet on the canvas.

Come see what artists from near and far see in our local landscape.

All of the paintings will be available for purchase.

Wet Wall: Saturday, September 5 • 11 AM–6 PM
Reception, judging & awards: 4:30–6 PM
Mockingbird Gallery • Bend, Oregon

I’d love to see you there!
