Team Bored Tunnelers Wins Silver at APICTA Mega Day Startup Pitch 🇧🇩

We are proud to share that Team Bored Tunnelers won the Silver Prize at the Mega Day Startup Pitch, part of the APICTA Awards, hosted by National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), Taiwan.

Startups from 13 different economies were shortlisted for this international competition, and we were honored to secure Silver along with USD 5,000 in prize money.

Representing our team on stage, Fatima Ashraf was the youngest presenter at the event. Each team was given 5 minutes to pitch their project making the experience both intense and exciting.

This achievement reflects the hard work, vision, and dedication of our entire team. Grateful for the support from our mentors, partners, and community—this is just the beginning.

One person whose support went beyond everything else during the entire time of our competition was Robel uncle. He is that super cool person who stood by us at every step, like a silent pillar of strength. From helping us rent cars, solving issues at the Airbnb, finding and buying components — he was there for us through it all💪

He was like a father figure to us. Someone who would drive miles just to spend time with us, bring delicious, freshly cooked meals made by him, or order our favorite meals from restaurants of our choice and flood us with snacks of all kinds, providing any amenity that crossed our mind at any time. Toolboxes, gears — whatever we needed, somehow uncle made it happen and gave us a real edge in the competition. Even at 12 or 1 in the night, he would visit the competition site just to check on us — making sure we were doing okay. But beyond all this, it was his time, warmth, and care that made us feel at home — even though we were thousands of miles away from Bangladesh✨
"Thank you" feels too small for all that you’ve done for us, uncle. But still, from the deepest corner of our hearts — thank you so much.
You’ve shown us that blood doesn’t define family. Empathy does. And your huge heart started a chain of kindness, care, and selfless love that we’ll carry with us forever💫

Notably, the day was graced by the visit of Mr. Muzaffer Hossain, mechanical engineer at Tesla.

Day 4 : While the rain posed a great deal of hassles, a part of the team precisely measured and marked the site, making it ready for excavation, the rest of the team continued machine assembly with full vigour.🤞

Day-3: Initially consisted of software team inspection. Later came rain, throwing more challenges. See our members carefully covering our machine and tent with tarp and battling against the downpour✌️✌️

This post is very close to our heart—and the person behind it, even closer🤍

Last night, we had the immense joy of attending a dinner hosted by Nabila Khalid apu, Lead Specialist, Premium Segment & B2B at Grameenphone, at the ever-iconic El Toro, in celebration of our team’s journey to the global finals of NaBC-'25.

"We still remember the day we reached out to her, not knowing if she’d ever respond to it—just few starry-eyed fans of her show Lumiere, which continues to inspire so many young dreamers like us to break barriers and build what’s never been built before.", says our PR lead.

Fast forward to today: not only did she respond, but she also stood by us when we were on the brink of pulling out from the competition due to a lack of funds. Apu is one of those people who made our partnership with Grameenphone’s ‘Cholo Bangladesh’ campaign a reality—and that partnership changed everything.

Because of her, we didn’t take a gap year. We went to Bastrop, Texas. We competed and came back victorious. And then, she welcomed us with warmth, wisdom, and the best Mexican food in town. Over tacos and stories, we were blown away not just by her incredible work at GP but by her sincerity, sharpness, and strength. She is truly one of the boldest, most visionary women we’ve met. Thank you, Nabila apu, for believing in us before the world did. We’ll keep hustling and inching closer to the dream—because you believed, we dared . 💙🇧🇩

P.S. If you ever want a taste of modern Mexico in the heart of Dhaka—El Toro is the place to be. Every corner of that restaurant is an ode to culture, color, and craft.

Day-2, Inspection Day : Teams deep in inspecting systems and ensuring everything is in top shape for the next round. This day was all about our hydraulic, mechanical, electrical sub teams explaining the machine mechanisms to The Boring Company engineers. They were impressed particularly by our design simplicity and cutterhead.
