Great visit and installation in Chengdu, China!

We were honored to install a new Minitech Mini-Mill/GX system at Biolog Medicine Innovative Fuhuayuan in Chengdu, China.

This system includes the GX granite-frame platform, 4th Axis rotary, new servo controllers, and automatic tool changer — built for high-precision micromilling applications in biomedical, microfluidic, and advanced research work.

Most importantly, it was a pleasure working with our new friends in Chengdu. Thank you for the warm welcome, great hospitality, and the opportunity to support your precision manufacturing work.

Looking forward to seeing what this machine helps create.

Minitech in Published Research

Minitech micromilling systems have been used in independent scientific publications across microfluidics, biomedical devices, lab-on-chip fabrication, pharmaceutical research, polymer microfabrication, and precision micromachining.

We’ve put together a new page highlighting selected research papers in which Minitech systems, including the CNC Mini-Mill/GX, were used or referenced in the fabrication, testing, or experimental workflow.

These publications include work in oral cancer diagnostics, liquid biopsy, cell culture devices, bio-microfluidics, therapeutic protein screening, PMMA microfluidic chips, and titanium alloy micromachining.

It’s always rewarding to see Minitech systems supporting real scientific and engineering work around the world.

Why Micro Tools Break — And How to Prevent It

If you’re running micro end mills, drills, or reamers — this is worth your time.

Miniature tools don’t behave like standard cutters.
Different chip loads. Different rigidity. Different strategy.

In this excellent video, the “Cutting Tool Counselor,” Don Grandt, explains:

• Why micro tools break
• What causes premature failure
• How to adjust feeds & speeds properly
• Practical tips for success in miniature machining

Micromachining is its own discipline — and understanding tooling is critical.

Whether you’re cutting microfluidic channels, precision optics, or biomedical components, this is solid advice.
