At Santa Fe Springs, momentum moves fast, but safety moves with it. The team has reached one year without an LTA, a meaningful milestone for one of Kloeckner Metals’ largest and most dynamic operations.

The Santa Fe Springs team operates a massive, high-volume facility, supporting a wide range of products, from carbon and stainless steel to aluminum, while delivering daily across California and neighboring states.

Behind this milestone is a team that shows up for one another, prioritizing safety in every decision, every shift, and every load. It’s a reflection of a culture where accountability runs deep, communication stays open, and everyone plays a role in ensuring their teammates get home safely.

We’re proud of Santa Fe Springs for setting the standard and proving that strong performance starts with a strong safety culture.

Eleven years without a lost-time accident is an exceptional achievement, and our Catoosa (Skiatook) team has earned every one of those days.

Located at the Tulsa Port of Catoosa, this processing-only facility plays a critical role in supporting producers, distributors, and OEMs through the toll processing of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. With access to barge transportation, the team helps move large volumes of material efficiently, adding another layer of coordination and awareness to daily operations.

Reaching eleven years LTA-free reflects a team that works with precision, communicates clearly, and looks out for one another at every step. It is the result of consistent habits and decisions that prioritize safety every day.

Congratulations to the Catoosa (Skiatook) team for this outstanding accomplishment and for continuing to set the standard for safe, reliable operations.

This month’s Pet Spotlight goes to Tessa, an 8-year-old Golden Retriever belonging to Steve Kibler at our Chicago (Metron) branch.

Tessa takes her role as official door greeter seriously, welcoming Steve home each day with a stuffed animal in her mouth and plenty of excitement to match.

“She’s an extremely loving and loyal dog,” Steve shared, and it’s easy to see why. She loves showing off her tricks (sit, stay, paws) or settling in for belly rubs, but Tessa is happiest right where her people are, especially curled up in bed with Steve and his wife.

When it’s time to head outside, that calm quickly turns to energy. Walks and backyard time can’t come fast enough, usually beginning with a full speed sprint out the door and ending with her signature move: rolling onto her back, rain, snow, or mud included, before chasing squirrels like it’s her job.

“She always brightens my day as soon as I come home,” Steve said, and it’s not just him. Tessa has a way of winning people over wherever she goes. In fact, as Steve puts it, “we actually have friends and family who fight over watching her.”

With a personality like that, it’s no surprise Tessa is this month’s Pet Spotlight.

Some people like to mix things up. Others find something they love, and stick with it.

For John Messmer, that’s meant 50 years at Kloeckner, all spent at our Cincinnati branch. Half a century of early mornings, steady work, and being the person everyone knows they can count on.

John’s journey began in 1976 on second shift as a warehouseman. Decades later, he’s still keeping operations moving as a cut‑to‑length scheduler. Ask him why he’s stayed so long, and his answer is classic John: “I like it here. I like what I do.” He also believes in the value of showing up, adding, “I think working keeps you young and healthy… if you’re able to work, work.”

Through company changes and industry shifts, John has remained a constant. Dependable, humble, and always willing to help, someone his teammates say you can “count on like clockwork.”

To celebrate the milestone, John’s Cincinnati team made sure the moment didn’t pass quietly, surprising him with a casino‑themed anniversary party to mark 50 years well played.

Congratulations, John, on an incredible career. Your loyalty, consistency, and work ethic have left a lasting impression on Cincinnati and all of us at Kloeckner.

The Chicago (South Metron) team has achieved an important milestone: reaching one year injury-free.

Serving customers across North America, Chicago (South Metron) operates as a high-volume processing and distribution center offering advanced capabilities, including plasma cutting, oxy-fuel cutting, beveling, stretcher leveling, and cut-to-length processing. It’s fast‑paced, complex work, and safety remains at the center of it all.

Achieving an injury-free year requires consistent actions: following procedures, communicating clearly, staying aware of your surroundings, and making safety part of every task from start to finish.

Although most people don’t leave the Chicago White Sox and end up in financial reporting, Andrew Ureña did.

He grew up in Puerto Rico playing baseball nonstop, chasing something most players dream about, but never believe will happen. At first, the goal was just to get to the U.S. and play at the college level. That’s what brought him to Mercer University.

Once he got there, things started to change. His velocity climbed, and scouts started paying attention. Before he knew it, letters showed up, followed by tryouts, and what used to feel like a long shot started to feel like it might actually be possible.

By his senior year, it was.

He went from Puerto Rico to Mercer University to getting drafted by the White Sox, where he stepped onto fields packed with people, heard the roar of the crowd, and felt that energy when the ball was in his hand and it was his turn.

It was an exciting and memorable part of his life, but as it does for most players, it eventually came to an end.

Now he leads financial reporting at Kloeckner, and outside of work, most of his time is still spent around the game, coaching his daughter’s softball team and helping her navigate the same goals he once had. Between practices, games, and everything that comes with it, the routine is still there, just in a different way.

When he's not back out on the field, he's spending time with his wife or supporting his son in college. These days, it’s less about where he’s playing and more about who he’s showing up for.

Long before a truck rolls off the assembly line, before it carries freight cross-country, its materials have already been on a journey. That journey begins with the right metals.

Kloeckner Metals supplies high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steel, carbon steel, and aluminum for heavy trucks, each selected for durability, performance, and weight savings.

These metals undergo meticulous processing, including plasma and laser cutting, bump forming, welding, and finishing, to become essential components like frames, chassis, body panels, axles, and fuel tanks.

Before it ever hauled its first load, it started as Kloeckner metal, built for whatever road lies ahead.
