In honor of Black History Month, we're highlighting Turner projects that celebrate and commemorate the legacies of prominent black Americans.

Check out the August Wilson Center for African American Culture in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

August Wilson (1945-2005) was an award-winning playwright best known for "Fences", "Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom", "Joe Turner’s Come and Gone", and the 10-play series "The Pittsburgh Cycle," which depicts the black experience at different moments in American history.

Our employee resource group IMPACT, celebrated the life's work of Dr. Martin Luther King with a day of service. We teamed with Hands On Atlanta and Books For Africa to
to sort and pack the books that will be shipped to children in Africa.

The mission of IMPACT is to empower the career advancement of diverse employees and create a community that fosters equity through awareness, advocacy, and intentional actions.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR), observed annually on November 20th, is a day to memorialize those lives lost to anti-transgender violence and to shine a light on the persistence of anti-transgender violence.

Since this day was founded in 1999 by Gwendolyn Ann Smith, TDoR has grown into an international day of action, awareness, and community. Turner Construction Company supports safe and equal treatment of the Transgender community.

Some things you can do on this day to support the Transgender community are; attend/or volunteer at a local vigil or memorial in your community, donate time, money, or in-kind contributions to local transgender-serving organizations, share internal and external communications honoring the day, co-host an event or discussion with other ERG’s at your company, hold a vigil or memorial on site and read aloud the names of those who have been murdered to honor their memories, and use social media to show your solidarity with this community.

Turner Atlanta’s Young Professional Network, the Blueprints held a winter clothing donation drive in honor of Veteran’s Day. The clothes were delivered to The Veterans Empowerment Organization whose mission is to empower veterans along their journey to self-sufficiency.

Toddlers in Training
A few of our team members from the CDC Parking Deck Project recently stopped by The Clifton Preschool to teach them a few things about construction.

All of the children have a front row seat every day to see Turner Construction right outside their window. We provided hardhats and safety glasses to our visit and talked about blueprints, PPE, construction tools, concrete and rebar. We were able show them a Hydrovac truck and backhoes that were on site.
