🏆 Big news from the Comprent Motor Sports team! 🏁

We’re incredibly proud to share that Matthew Melvin Kloepfer has been named 2025 Mechanic of the Year by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).

This honor recognizes Matthew’s dedication, technical excellence, and relentless commitment to the sport. Over the years, he has crewed for five National Championships in SRF3 and played a key role in Franklin Futrelle’s FE2 National Championship at the 2025 Runoffs an incredible resume built on hard work, long hours, and passion.

Matthew is quick to credit the SCCA, CRB, tech inspectors, his family/friends and the customers who have become friends and family along the way. That spirit of teamwork and community is exactly what this award represents.

Congratulations, Matthew! We couldn’t be prouder to have you representing Comprent Motor Sports at the highest level. 👏🏁

Great weekend at Sebring International Raceway at the SCCA Majors race. The four comprent cars finished in the top seven out of thirty five entries on Sunday. Clay Russell finished second missing out on a win by six thousands of a second, he had a great race with Brian Schofield. Keith Grant, in my rental finished fourth, Todd Vanacore was fifth, and Conner Grant finished seventh. Tray Ayres finished third. In FE2, Paul Schneider won, passing Steve Winston on the last lap, Will Franklin, in his second weekend of national racing finished second.

SCCA Runoffs Recap: 2025 Sports Car Club of America Runoffs at Road America

The 2025 SCCA National Championship Runoffs brought highs, heartbreaks, and plenty of pride for the Comprent Motor Sports team at Road America. Across three classes (SRF3, P1, and FE2) our drivers battled through tough conditions, mechanical gremlins, and fierce competition to close out another memorable season.

Saturday kicked off with the always-stacked Spec Racer Ford Gen3 field - 43 cars strong. Clay Russell (2018 & 2019 SRF3 National Champion) started 8th and showed strong pace early, but brake issues cut his charge short. He crossed the line 14th, a disappointing result for a car with podium potential. We’ll regroup and come back stronger for the 2026 season. Todd Vanacore started 9th and finished 13th, happy with the car’s balance but caught in heavy traffic that limited forward progress.

In P1, Todd rebounded impressively after sorting through an engine issue earlier in the week. He moved from 5th to 4th before debris on track punctured a tire, ending his day early - a tough break after a strong run.

Sunday brought redemption in the Formula Enterprises 2 (FE2) race. Franklin Futrelle delivered a flawless drive to capture his 4th National Championship, capping a week of hard work and resilience after missing last year’s Runoffs due to Hurricane Helene.

Paul Schneider (Paul Schneider Racing) charged from 7th to 3rd, earning a podium finish and the GoSunoco Hard Charger Award for the most positions gained. A well-deserved result after a gritty and determined drive!

We’re incredibly proud of our entire crew and drivers for their effort, attitude, and perseverance throughout Runoffs week. The preparation, teamwork, and grit shown by everyone in Elkhart Lake embody what Comprent is all about. Now, it’s time to get back to Athens, break down the cars, and start gearing up for the 2026 SCCA Runoffs season.

Thank you to our drivers, crew, and partners for another great year at the Runoffs.

Comprent Heads to the 2025 SCCA Runoffs at Road America! 🏁

Athens, GA — The SCCA National Championship Runoffs return to Road America on Sept 29 – Oct 5, 2025, and Comprent Motor Sports is rolling into Elkhart Lake ready to battle for the podium and finish the year strong. The Runoffs are SCCA’s winner-take-all national championships and the highlight of the racing calendar.

Our 2025 Runoffs program

Comprent will support entries in Spec Racer Ford (SRF3), Formula Enterprises (FE2), Prototype 1, including Franklin Furtrelle – #7 – FE2, Todd Vanacore – #19 – Prototype, Clay Russell – #31 – SRF3, Todd Vanacore – #119 – SRF3, Paul Schneider – #73 – FE2

A History of Runoff Success 🏆

Comprent’s Runoffs story spans decades—from Joseph Hamilton’s breakthrough podium in 1989 and National Championship in 1990, to modern-era titles across multiple classes. In recent years the team has captured SRF Gen3 National Championships in 2015, 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023, plus a 2023 Prototype 1 National Championship with Todd Vanacore, and a FE2 Runoffs Championship in 2022 with Bailey Monette as well as an FE2 Runoffs runner-up in 2023 with Franklin Futrelle.

Why Road America matters 📍

At 4.048 miles with high-speed sectors and heavy-braking zones like Canada Corner, Road America rewards cars that put power down cleanly and stay stable over long stints. Expect SRF3 to be the draft chess match it always is, and FE2/P1 to hinge on braking consistency and exit traction through the Kettle Moraine elevation changes.
