The Mammuthus team is back from its latest expedition which was hugely successful in discovering and collecting samples from the remote and poorly-understood Wrangel Island mammoth population. As the expedition finishes the scientific program begins analysis which should help us uncover aspects about the island's unique evolutionary history that have long remained a mystery. The team will be looking specifically for evidence of the mammoth population's survival beyond the extinction date of mainland mammoths. In addition to the preliminary success, a pioneering collaboration with the Wrangel Island Nature Reserve will allow more comprehensive analysis of large-scale natural phenomena at play. More updates to follow soon.
