Arc flash labels are only useful when the data behind them is current.

Breaker settings get adjusted. Equipment gets replaced. A transformer gets upsized. The label on the panel still shows numbers from a study nobody can date. NFPA 70E calls for the arc flash risk assessment to be reviewed at intervals not exceeding five years, and sooner when the system changes.

Arc flash is one piece of the risk assessment program from ProgUSA Power Quality Services. The program covers power quality, infrared scanning under NFPA 70B, and arc flash under NFPA 70E. Arc flash studies are performed by licensed professional engineering firms, and we bundle the results into a single assessment package.

Scope includes field data collection, short circuit study, protection coordination review, incident energy analysis, arc flash boundary and PPE guidance, label update support, and mitigation recommendations.

The output is documentation your crews can act on and labels that match the system you actually have.

Insulating oil is a transformer's first line of defense, and its dielectric strength degrades as moisture and contaminants accumulate. Testing breakdown voltage on a schedule catches that decline before it reaches the windings.

The Hipotronics OC60-DI is a digital liquid dielectric tester that measures the breakdown voltage of insulating liquids up to 60 kV AC. Automatic breakdown detection, a digital kilovoltmeter accurate to within 2 percent of full scale, and automatic high-voltage shutdown at breakdown make each test safe and repeatable.

Pre-programmed standards cover ASTM D877, ASTM D1816, and IEC 60156 (IEC 156), with a Basic mode for custom sequences. Results save to internal memory or USB.

Rugged and portable for field or laboratory use across transformers, bushings, switchgear, and capacitors.

The OC60-DI is available through ProgUSA with training, demonstrations, and U.S.-based calibration.

Can a workplace pass every EMF exposure limit and still put a worker with a pacemaker at risk? Yes, and it happens more than you'd think.

Our new article breaks down a practical three-level approach to EMF risk assessment for workers with pacemakers and other implanted medical devices: where the risk shows up, why standard limits aren't the whole story, and the instruments that do the measurement work.

Power quality monitoring is moving to higher voltages. Renewable generation, wind in particular, often operates at levels standard analyzers are not rated to measure directly.

The CHK Power Quality Miro PQ45-1k is built for that environment. A Class A power quality analyzer with direct measurement to 1000 VACrms phase-to-neutral (CAT IV 600 V), it measures the higher voltages found in wind and solar generation, such as the 690 VAC common to wind turbines, without external transformers.

Four voltage channels (3-phase, ground, and neutral) capture sags, swells, interruptions, flicker, harmonics, and mains signaling to IEC 61000-4-30 Class A. A weatherproof IP66 enclosure suits outdoor installation, with WiFi and optional cellular for remote data access.

Ideal for compliance reporting and energy audits in renewable and high-voltage applications.

ProgUSA represents CHK Power Quality in the United States with demonstrations, training, and technical support.

New data centers get a fall-of-potential test at commissioning. It shows how the whole site connects to earth. It does not show whether the buried ground grid and the equipment bonds are actually intact.

That takes a different test. The GGT from DV Power injects up to 300 A to verify grid integrity and prove those connections will carry fault current, the faults an earth impedance number never catches.

We wrote up how it works and why it belongs in every data center grounding scope. Read it here: https://www.progusa.net/blog/news-2/the-ground-test-data-centers-forget-grid-integrity-and-bonding-14

Battery capacity is the most reliable indicator of a backup bank's health, and only a discharge test measures it.

DV Power's BLU700C is part of the BLU-C series, built for discharge testing of stationary battery banks in substations and power plants.

The BLU700C handles battery strings up to 700 V DC across flooded lead-acid, VRLA, Ni-Cd, and Li-Ion. Discharge parameters are monitored in real time on a 7-inch touchscreen, with cell voltage, inter-cell voltage, and temperature tracked through BVS scanner support. Results download to DV-B Win software for reporting and aging comparison.

Testing follows IEEE 450, IEEE 1188, IEEE 1106, and IEC 60896 standards.

Backed by two decades in test equipment, ProgUSA supports the DV Power line with training, demonstrations, and U.S.-based calibration.

Some of the most important diagnostic work in a substation depends on seeing what the naked eye cannot. Corona discharge and thermal hot spots both signal developing faults, but they usually require separate instruments and separate passes.

The UViRCO CoroCAM 8HD combines both into a single handheld camera. Solar-blind UV corona detection, radiometric LWIR thermal imaging, and an HD visible camera operate together in one unit, letting inspectors assess energized equipment in a single sweep.

Co-location of corona discharges and thermal anomalies on one display reveals both the type and cause of a fault, supporting maintenance priority assessment under the EPRI methodology. Ideal for switchgear, insulators, bushings, and connectors.

Testing CTs, VTs, and CVTs has traditionally required multiple instruments, repeated reconnections, and significant time on-site.

Power built the CVA500 to change that. One device, one setup, multiple automated tests.

The CVA500 performs turns ratio, saturation (knee point), burden, winding resistance, demagnetization, polarity, and insulation resistance testing on current, voltage, and capacitive voltage transformers in a single connection.

Capabilities include up to 2 kV AC output for saturation testing, 1 kV DC for insulation resistance, automatic accuracy class assessment per IEEE C57.13 and IEC 61869-2, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen. An internal relay matrix enables automated testing across up to 5 secondary taps without cable reconnection.

Rugged, field-ready, and compact for site-based work.

ProgUSA supports the DV Power line with training, demonstrations, and U.S.-based calibration.

For more than 20 years, ProgUSA has supplied test and imaging equipment to utilities and industrial facilities across the United States. Our infrared thermography inspections are a natural extension of that work, putting the same imaging principles into structured, on-site assessments.

These inspections align with NFPA 70B maintenance practices, the standard for electrical equipment maintenance. Thermal imaging identifies abnormal heat patterns on energized equipment before failures occur, covering switchgear, panelboards, transformers, motor control centers, and breakers.

Each inspection includes a structured report with thermal images, temperature differentials, severity classifications, and recommended corrective actions. The findings support preventive maintenance programs, insurance documentation, and safety compliance.

A focused diagnostic service backed by 20 years of imaging equipment expertise.

Contact ProgUSA at www.progusa.net or [email protected] to discuss inspection scheduling and program planning.
