Back in December, while prepping for , I saw that was doing a rare U.S. show at in Brooklyn.
He hardly ever plays stateside, so when my wife said, “We’re going,” that meant flying from Texas to NYC during one of the coldest weekends they’ve had in years. 🥶
Worth it.
During Covid, Kolsch’s new album “Now Here, Nowhere” lived on repeat in our house. My son Aiden would jump in the car and immediately request “Shoulder of Giants” or “Time.” Those tracks, along with Outlander soundtrack, became part of our family soundtrack during a season we will never forget.
We had a few near-misses over the years at Tomorrowland, so this felt like the right time to simply say thank you.
After an incredible set, we connected. We talked Tomorrowland, the Super Bowl, analog gear, first drum machines, proper production nerd stuff.
That somehow turned into pitchers at The Gutter with his close friend in the mix. Great hangs, great conversation, and now I have another friend up in Chicago.
Nothing wild. Just good conversation with genuinely good people and a reminder that music really does bring it all together.
