On 31 July, 28 residents from St. Andrew's Nursing Home (Taman Jurong) and their caregivers enjoyed a special afternoon outing to the Singapore Flyer, organised by Tractors Singapore Limited (TSL).

St. Andrew's Nursing Home provides long-term support, nursing care and rehabilitation for the elderly, including those living with dementia and mental health issues. Management representatives from Sime Motors, including BMW Performance Motors Singapore, Vantage Automotive Limited, and Sime Darby Auto Selection Limited, as well as from Sime UMW, also participated in this CSR event.

Standing at 165 metres tall, the Singapore Flyer is one of Singapore's iconic landmarks, offering panoramic views of Marina Bay and the city skyline from its 28 air-conditioned capsules. On that sunny afternoon, the volunteers spent time with the residents, engaging in conversations and enjoying the breathtaking sights together from above.

For many of the residents and nursing home staff, it was their first experience on the Singapore Flyer, making the outing even more memorable. The afternoon concluded with ice cream treats and goodie bags, bringing smiles and delight to both the residents and their caregivers.

This meaningful CSR initiative brought together volunteers and management representatives from Sime Industrial, Sime Motors, and Sime UMW to spread joy to the beneficiaries, reflecting our Sime values of Caring for All and Winning Together. Together, we can make a positive difference to the community and strengthen the spirit of care and collaboration that defines Sime.

We hosted another live Cat® Command Station demonstration at our office, this time a dedicated session with a customer. The intimate setting made for a great discussion, with plenty of questions on how Cat Command could be deployed safely and successfully at their jobsites.

Onboard offshore marine power applications can be one of the most demanding.

A vessel operator needed temporary power for both hotel load and onboard crane operations. Instead of running two smaller capacity gensets, a single Cat® 3412 generator set delivering 545 kW of dependable power was used to drive both applications.

Throwback to ConTech@PDD earlier in July, where we let visitors remotely operate a 20-tonne Cat® 320 excavator physically located 38km away - right from the Cat Command Station!

The Cat Command Station setup is very familiar to operators. They have access to the same controls and displays as seen in the actual machine cabin, coupled with live HD camera views from the excavator.

This remote set up enables the operator to stay out of the heat, dust, noise and vibration present at the actual jobsite while they operate the machine from kilometres away. This greatly enhances operator safety on sites with hazards such as unstable grounds, confined spaces or demolition works without compromising productivity.

Jobsites can be made safer with smart technology. With Cat Command remote control technology now available in Singapore, we hope to build a safer future for the construction industry.
