Same kitchen. Same layout. Completely different personality. đź‘€

You don't always need to redesign the entire kitchen to create a completely different look.

We took the same kitchen layout and created 3 different design directions:

🤎 1. Warm LuxuryWarm beige tones, natural textures and subtle stone veining for a cosy and elegant atmosphere.

🤍 2. Modern MinimalistLight colours, clean lines and minimal details for a bright, calm and timeless kitchen.

đź–¤ 3. Dramatic StatementDarker surfaces, stronger contrast and bold veining for a sophisticated, confident look.

The layout stayed the same.

đź‘€ CAN YOU GUESS THE COUNTERTOP MATERIAL?

They may look similar at first glance, but different countertop materials can have very different characteristics.

We're testing 3 surfaces:

🪨 Quartz
🔥 Sintered Stone
✨ Solid Surface

Look closely at the colour, veining, texture and finish before making your guess.

Don't scroll too quickly — some of these are harder to identify than they look.

How many did you get right?

Things I would NEVER do as a countertop specialist.

After seeing how countertops are selected, measured and installed, there are a few things I wouldn't take shortcuts on.

❌ Choose based only on colour❌ Pick the cheapest quote without checking what's included❌ Ignore how the kitchen is actually used❌ Skip proper measurements❌ Forget to plan sink and hob cutouts❌ Choose a material without understanding its care requirements

A countertop isn't just a design feature. It's something you'll use every single day.

Looks matter — but suitability matters too.

Your countertop colour can change the entire mood of your kitchen. đź‘€

Think about what each colour brings into the space:

🤎 Warm Beige — cosy, welcoming and relaxed.🤍 Soft White — bright, clean and minimalist.🌾 Earthy Taupe — natural, warm and sophisticated.🖤 Deep Charcoal — bold, dramatic and full of contrast.

Your countertop doesn't just sit on top of your cabinets — it becomes a major part of the kitchen's overall character.

Same kitchen. Three completely different personalities.

The countertop can change the entire feeling of a kitchen, even when the cabinets and layout stay exactly the same.

🤎 Warm Luxury — warm beige tones and subtle veining for a welcoming, elegant feel.

🤍 Modern Minimalist — soft white and clean lines for a bright, calm and timeless look.

🖤 Dramatic Statement — deep charcoal with stronger movement for a bold and sophisticated finish.

There isn't one countertop that suits every homeowner.

The better question is: What kind of home are you trying to create?

Before you renovate your entire kitchen, take a second look at what you already have. đź‘€

If your cabinets are still in good condition, you may not need to tear everything out.

Replacing the countertop can make a surprisingly big difference to the overall appearance of your kitchen.

You can keep the usable cabinets, remove the old countertop, take accurate measurements, fabricate the new surface and install it over the existing kitchen structure.

✨ New countertop🏠 Existing cabinets🔧 Less unnecessary renovation work💰 Potentially a more practical approach

Sometimes, you don't need a completely new kitchen — you just need to refresh the part that has aged the most.

The cheapest countertop quote isn't always the cheapest renovation. đź‘€

When comparing countertop prices, it's easy to focus on the number at the bottom of the quotation.

But don't forget to consider the bigger picture — material suitability, measurements, cutouts, installation, maintenance and how the countertop will be used every day.

A cheaper option upfront may not always offer the best overall value.

Before choosing, ask yourself:

“Am I saving money now, or am I choosing the right solution for the long term?”

A countertop is an investment you'll use every day. Choose based on total value, not just the starting price.

🔥 THE HOT POT TEST: Can Your Countertop Handle It?

One thing homeowners often overlook when choosing a countertop is heat resistance.

Quartz is heat resistant, but it contains resin components, so prolonged or sudden exposure to very high temperatures can potentially damage the surface.

Sintered stone is manufactured under extremely high temperatures, giving it excellent heat resistance and making it well suited to high-heat environments.

But here's the important part: heat resistant doesn't mean “anything goes.”

Using a heat-resistant trivet is still a smart habit. It helps reduce the risk of thermal shock, sudden temperature changes and long-term surface wear.

When choosing your countertop, don't just ask:

“Which one looks nicer?”

Also consider how you actually cook and use your kitchen.

Choosing a countertop colour isn't just about what looks good today.

If you're renovating, think about how your kitchen will look years from now.

Here are 4 countertop colour families that are versatile, timeless and easier to design around:

🤎 Warm Beige — soft, welcoming and works beautifully with wood and neutral cabinetry.

🤍 Soft White — bright, clean and easy to match with different kitchen styles.

🌾 Earthy Taupe — warm, natural and gives the kitchen a more sophisticated feel.

🖤 Deep Charcoal — bold, modern and creates beautiful contrast with lighter cabinets.

Trends will come and go, but a well-chosen countertop colour can continue to work with your kitchen as your style changes.

Quartz vs Sintered Stone — which one would you choose for your kitchen?

Both can give you a beautiful, premium finish, but the better choice depends on more than just appearance.

Think about your cooking habits, exposure to heat, everyday spills, maintenance and the overall look you want for your kitchen.

Before choosing your colour, understand the material first.
