To celebrate our 50th anniversary, we’re unveiling a brand-new collection inspired by where it all began — 1975.

A series that pays tribute to craftsmanship, materiality, and timeless design.

In collaboration with , we’re introducing bespoke PrimeCuts 1975 — handcrafted using only the wildest and most expressive Nyatoh timber grains, intentionally selected and composed to celebrate the beauty of natural imperfections.

Each piece is assembled using traditional dowel joinery, where every grain direction is carefully positioned to create an organised chaos of movement, texture, and rhythm.

The result? A door that feels less like a fixture and more like a statement piece.

Not all wood can become a door — especially in Singapore’s climate.

With PrimeCuts, we source exotic veneers and build each door using traditional joinery that allows for natural timber movement, preventing warping over time.

Century-Old Timber Doors — What 1342 Craftsmanship Teaches Modern Door Makers

At Lion Grove Garden (built in 1342), we studied these historic timber doors up close — analysing the joinery, panel construction, intricate wood carvings and coloured glass integration.

Look closely and you’ll notice:

• Solid timber frame construction
• Deep mortise & tenon joinery
• Floating wood panels to accommodate expansion
• Hand-fitted coloured glass inserts
• Structural symmetry that prevents long-term warping

Even after centuries, these doors remain structurally sound.

Why?

Because traditional door makers understood wood movement, seasonal expansion, and load distribution — long before modern machinery existed.

In Singapore’s tropical climate, timber expansion is even more critical. A properly engineered solid wood door must:

– Allow cross-grain movement
– Use correct moisture-controlled timber
– Balance panel tension within the frame
– Integrate glass without stressing the structure
