Fencing gear and clothes for the discerning fencer. Our goal is for you to be proud to wear and use our products. Fencing is a way of life.

We sell equipment to be used for full contact HEMA/historical fencing, reenactment, SCA and similar weapon fighting. We are both experienced HEMA competitiors and instructors. It is a path to explore what it means to be human and to be alive. St Mark is a company dedicated to those who pursuit the Art of Fencing. Fencing history is full of people who have stood up for ideals, honour and love. The inheritance and stewardship of these traditions is important for any fencer who wishes to follow in the footsteps of the ancient masters. St Mark was founded with this at heart. We believe that if we wish to honour our history and traditional fencing culture we must carry ourselves with a certain dignity. The equipment we use and the clothes we wear should reflect this ideal. That is why we have dedicated ourselves to only provide you with goods of the highest quality. St Mark is a brand for fencers, by fencers. Our goal is to make you proud to wear and use our products, because they are made with love for fencing history and tradition. We take our name from the patron saint of the Marxbrüder. In 1487 they became the first fencing guild that was approved by the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick III.

Let us introduce our Reciprocal Clubs programme.

Fencing has a wonderful way of turning strangers into friends. A visit to another club is a chance to share what we know, discover what others can teach us and get to know the people behind the masks. Often, the conversation continues over a meal, long after the swords have been put away.

We welcome fencers from all walks of life, brought together by a shared love of our art. We ask the same of ourselves and one another: mutual respect, generosity and honourable conduct, in the training hall and beyond.

This is the spirit behind our Reciprocal Clubs programme. Participating clubs welcome one another’s members as guests, and we encourage our students to step away from their screens, travel and learn from fellow fencers in person.

The programme takes inspiration from the old journeyman tradition of travelling to learn from different masters and bringing new knowledge home. Our journeyman books give students a place to record their visits and what they have learnt, with signatures from the instructors they train with.

Since 2003, our instructors have travelled to teach, compete and train around the world, and welcomed visitors into their homes and training halls. As a company, we have also sponsored several dozens of events in recent years, to help promote cross-training and friendships.

Next year, we will be travelling and training with people on several continents. More details soon.

Fencers from non-reciprocal clubs are welcome to visit us too, of course. If your club would like to join the programme, we would love to hear from you.

A handsome sidesword and sabre glove (that also works great with nylon swords) with a slim profile that fits inside most complex hilts. Light and supple from the first session, The Captain gives you room to move, adjust your grip and enjoy your fencing.

The Rose & Cross Rashguard now comes in a new colourway: the same medieval rosette-and-cross pattern, printed in charcoal on a clean white base.

Pre-orders are now open for Caizo, our new knee guards.

Made in beautiful brown leather with a padded hard plastic shell, Caizo protects the front and sides of the knee while allowing you to move freely. The compact profile fits neatly under or over our Jarnac breeches.

The name has a connection to those breeches, too. Captain Caizo trained Guy Chabot de Jarnac before his famous duel, teaching him the strike to the back of the knee that would decide its outcome. We thought it only fitting to name our knee guards after him.
