IRIDESCENCE CLOUD OVER A GROWING STORM

One thundercloud rose like a mountain… and the top started shimmering in pastel fire.
It's real optical glow riding the edge of the updraft.
Then, low on the horizon, you can catch a faint rainbow where rain is falling in sunlight.
A single moment where weather and light physics show up together.

This scene is basically two events mixing:
The giant cloud is a fast-building cumulonimbus (strong updraft stacking layers). Near the crown, the soft rainbow “sheen” is cloud iridescence — sunlight diffracting through tiny, similarly sized droplets/ice crystals in a thin layer at the cloud’s edge (often a smooth cap/pileus). The lower, dim arc is a rainbow, formed when sunlight hits raindrops in the rain curtain at the right angle.

📍Late-summer storm country near the Rockies — Colorado or Montana vibes.
