💙 Everyone has those few tools that go to every job.

A spirit level, a hammer, Smart Level… plus all the smaller bits you don’t want to spend five minutes looking for. 👀

With a large main compartment and built-in organizers, the KUBALA toolbox keeps bigger tools and small accessories in their place. Reinforced corners, a sturdy construction and an aluminium handle make it ready for everyday use on site.

Your turn: which 3 tools never leave your toolbox? 🛠️👇

How to Clean a Roller for Reuse?

Want to keep your smoothing roller in good condition for longer? Here’s a simple way to clean it 👇

Prepare a bucket with a lid and cut an opening for the roller. This helps keep water from splashing everywhere while you clean.

If you’re continuing work, you don’t necessarily need to wash the roller every time — it can be temporarily stored in the smoothing compound. But before a longer break, clean it thoroughly to keep it in good condition.

💡 Because the roller frame can make it difficult to reach the inside, turn the roller around and rinse it from both sides. This helps remove any material left inside.

The same bucket setup can also be used to clean your mixer, making it a simple solution for keeping your tools ready for the next job.

Clean tools = longer service life and better results. 🛠️

🛠️ When Should You Remove Plastering Tape?

Does plastering tape leak — and when is the right moment to remove it? 👇

Once the area is taped off and plastered, smooth the surface with a trowel. The tape should be removed when you decide the surface is finished and ready.

💡 You can remove the tape while the material is still fresh or after it has fully dried. Avoid removing it during the intermediate drying stage, as you risk pulling off part of the finished surface along with the tape.

In this case, the tape was applied directly to raw cement-lime plaster without primer — and it still created a clean working edge.

🛠️ How to Fix an Uneven Finished Surface?

Made a mistake and the surface isn’t as smooth as you wanted? It can still be fixed 👇

Start by sanding the area with a CLICK SYSTEM sanding pad. The full-surface Velcro backing makes it easy to attach the right abrasive and work efficiently.

If the surface is slightly wavy or there are smaller imperfections, switch to hand sanding for better control and a more precise finish.

Next, use a long finishing trowel to create a clean, elegant edge.

💡 Don’t forget the right tape! Use protective tape to secure surrounding surfaces and precision tape wherever you need sharp, clean edges.

The right tools can turn a finishing mistake into a clean, professional result. 🛠️✨

🛠️ How to Use a Plaster Hook?

Need to secure a board around a door frame? A plaster hook makes the job quick and simple 👇

First, remove any stickers or labels that could get in the way. Position the board, then hammer the plaster hook into place to secure it. Repeat at the top to hold the board firmly.

Once it’s fixed, use a spirit level to check the alignment and make any necessary adjustments.

💡 With the board securely in place, you can move on to plastering and creating clean, straight angles around the frame.

🛠️ How to Avoid Lines on Window Reveals?

Using a tool that’s too small can make the job harder than it needs to be 👇

When your spatula is narrower than the window reveal, you have to smooth the surface in several passes. Each additional pass can leave visible lines and marks, making it harder to achieve a perfectly even finish.

The solution? Use a wider spatula that covers the entire reveal in one pass.

🔹 Fewer passes
🔹 Fewer visible lines
🔹 Better control
🔹 Smoother, more even finish

Even with experience, the right tool makes the job faster and easier — and that’s exactly what good tools are designed to do.

‼️ How Not to Damage Your Bucket?

One wrong tool can quickly damage your bucket 👇

Using a sharp edge to scrape off dried material may seem effective, but even one pass can leave deep scratches on the surface.

Why is that a problem? 💡 When you later use the bucket for plaster or other compounds, material can collect in those scratches. Scraping vertically can then pull dried residue into the fresh mix, making your work more difficult and potentially contaminating the material.

The better solution is to use a dedicated bucket scraper. Its shape allows you to remove residue without unnecessarily damaging the bucket surface.

Take care of your equipment, and it will stay in good condition for much longer. 🛠️

🏠 How to Avoid Trowel Marks When Embedding Mesh?

Want a smoother base coat with less effort? Here's a simple trick 👇

When combing adhesive with a standard notched trowel, it's common to leave sharp ridges and visible trowel marks. These can make it harder to achieve a perfectly smooth base coat.

A simple solution is to use a trowel with rounded corners. The rounded edges create a much smoother adhesive layer and significantly reduce visible marks while combing.

💡 If you're less experienced, a rounded-corner trowel makes the job much more forgiving and helps you achieve a cleaner, more professional finish.

Sometimes, the right tool is all it takes to improve the final result.

🧱 How to Create a Pitted Concrete Effect with a Roller

Looking for a subtle pitted architectural concrete finish? A smoothing roller makes it easy to control the effect 👇

Start by applying the second coat of concrete to the thickness of the aggregate using a Venetian trowel.

Next, roll the surface evenly to create the desired texture. The roller gives you much better control, making it easy to achieve a consistent finish.

💡 Timing is key. Let the material dry slightly, then gently smooth the surface with the trowel. This closes the texture just enough while preserving the fine pitted effect.

The final look is entirely up to your creativity—the more you work the surface, the more subtle the texture becomes.

🔥 What a day in Northampton!
The Tiler’s Trade Day 2026 was exactly what a great trade event should be - busy, practical and full of live demos, valuable conversations and great energy. 🙌

For us, the best events are the ones you leave with more than just new contacts. Travelling over 1,500 km was absolutely worth it, because nothing replaces meeting partners and professionals face to face. 🤝

A huge thank you to Luke and the entire Pro Tiler Tools team for the brilliant organisation and such a warm welcome. You could really feel how much work and commitment went into making the day so special.

And one thing definitely surprised us - we gave away our entire stock of KUBALA sunglasses! 😎 We may have been in the UK, but when protilertools and KUBALA get together, the sun always seems to come out.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, tested our tools, asked questions and shared their feedback. See you next time! 💙
