پلستر ہو یا چھت کی ڈھلائی — کنکریٹ ڈالنے کے بعد کم از کم سات دن باقاعدہ تراوٹ (پانی دینا) اس کی مضبوطی کے لیے لازمی ہے۔ تراوٹ کے دوران سیمنٹ اور پانی کا کیمیائی عمل مکمل ہوتا ہے، جس سے کنکریٹ اپنی پوری طاقت حاصل کرتا ہے۔

تراوٹ نہ ہو تو کنکریٹ وقت سے پہلے سوکھ جاتا ہے، پوری مضبوطی حاصل نہیں کر پاتا اور باریک دراڑوں کا خطرہ بڑھ جاتا ہے۔

Add more water, it mixes easier." You've heard it on every site. Here's why it quietly weakens your structure.

MYTH: Extra water just makes concrete easier to pour — no harm done.
FACT: Water beyond the required ratio doesn't disappear. It evaporates and leaves behind tiny pores inside the concrete. More pores mean lower strength and lower durability. That's why the water-cement ratio is one of the most important numbers in construction.

Workability should come from proper mixing, correct grading of aggregates and — on professional jobs — admixtures. Never from a free hand on the water bucket.

Rain doesn't have to stop your construction — but ignoring it can cost you strength.

Fresh concrete and heavy rain are a risky combination. Rainwater falling on a freshly poured slab can wash cement paste off the surface and disturb the water-cement balance — weakening the very top layer that takes the most wear.

Here's how professionals protect their work during monsoon:
1. Check the forecast before pouring — avoid casting slabs when heavy rain is expected within the first few hours.
2. Keep plastic sheets or tarpaulins on site, ready to cover fresh concrete immediately.
3. Ensure proper site drainage so water doesn't pool around foundations and freshly cast work.
4. Store cement bags raised off the ground, away from walls, and fully covered.
5. Never add extra cement to 'fix' rain-hit concrete — remove damaged surface material and repair it properly.
