Overview:
On December 5, 2024, we visited Mangla dam arranged by Civil Engineering Department, UET Lahore (the largest dam in Pakistan in terms of water storage capacity currently). Dam construction started in 1962 and completed in 1967.

What we learn:
We got lot of knowledge about dams during briefing. This information includes how dam, its tunnels, its spillways and power station works. Briefing also includes explanation from a small layout model of dam and its history point of view. Overall it was a great experience.

Dam Information:
This dam has 10 turbines and five tunnels to provide water to turbines ( one tunnel for two turbines). each turbine produces 100MW electricity. Total electricity production capacity of mangla dam is 1000MW.
Chinese company is currently working to extend the capacity UpTo 1300MW.

It's been an amazing experience to be participated, in the Project management presentation. Shared and got some valuable knowledge related to role and future of artificial intelligence in civil engineering. Thanks to civil engineering department, UET Lahore for arranging such events in order to polish student skills.

Topic of presentation:
"How we can apply AI to get sustainable construction techniques and materials and brief analysis of pre-AI and post-AI civil engineering."

Presentation important points:
1. Use of AI in energy efficiency, construction process optimization, waste reduction and generative designs to get sustainable construction techniques
2. Application of AI in materials selection, materials lifecycle analysis, smart composite materials to get sustainable construction materials.
3. How AI has bring the revolution in construction industry
