We had the privilege of a visit to the Focal workshop from David Seymour last week.

It’s nice stepping back from the daily hustle and being able to share our story and showcase the heavy investment in modern machinery that we continue to make as a company.

With David training as an electrical engineer, we were able to have high level discussions about our machines, how they work and how quickly technology is changing in the manufacturing space.

As a part of the visit, we cut a quick little tongue-in-cheek sign on our laser cutter that he instantly took to.

As other companies continue to outsource manufacturing to outside of the Central Otago region, we are all-in on Queenstown based manufacturing and feel that locally owned and operated businesses are integral as the town grows into a city and allows the town stand on its own two feet outside of tourism. This in turn creates opportunity for Queenstown based businesses to export outside of our region and internationally.

Next on the list for Focal is a SIRI assessment funded through Callaghan Innovation helping us become a more efficient business and starting to adopt lean manufacturing principles.

Happy new year!

The team are back in full swing and we have been working hard over the break to more than double our workshop space by taking over the tenancy next door.
