Custom Enclosed Trailer – Built In-House 🔧

Another big fabrication project completed by the team at GT Engineering.

This trailer was fabricated and built in our workshop from the ground up, including the steelwork, body, storage, workbench and fit-out.

Specs:

* 5400mm long box
* 2450mm wide
* 2080mm high
* 1970mm clearance between the guards
* 1730mm drawbar – front of box to centre of tow ball
* 2.5-tonne rated axles
* 12,000lb winch
* 3 x drop boxes for tools & spares
* 4 x tie-down points
* Built-in workbench
* 1.5m x 250mm loading ramps
* Aluminium rims
* Spare wheel

A lot of hours went into this build, and we’re pretty happy with how the black finish and aluminium checker plate came together.

From the initial fabrication right through to the final fit-out, everything was completed through our workshop at GT Engineering.

⚡ When a job needs sorting, sometimes you just have to make it happen.

Earlier this week, a company we’ve previously worked with on another substation contacted us after realising they were one transformer clamp short for a project in Napier.

The substation was due to be commissioned on Monday, so time was definitely against us.

We got onto it straight away, organising for a replacement clamp to be produced from a solid billet of round material, matching the required dimensions and specifications.

By mid-morning Friday, the finished clamp was ready to go.

With the job being in Napier and no time to waste, we arranged to meet the customer halfway in Bunnythorpe and hand it over, making sure they had what they needed to keep the commissioning on schedule.

A good example of what we’re about at GT Engineering — finding a solution, getting things organised and doing what we can to keep our customers moving.

Sometimes it’s not just about the job itself — it’s about getting it sorted. 👌

🔥 Custom Corten Steel Fire Pit – Made In-House

Fabricated from 3mm Corten steel, these fire pits are designed and manufactured completely in-house at GT Engineering.

The full design is CAD drawn, including the custom stag head detail, before being cut on our CNC plasma cutter. The main body is then rolled to shape through our plate rollers, fabricated and welded together ready for use.

Corten steel naturally weathers over time, developing its distinctive rust-coloured finish and giving each fire pit its own unique character.

Another solid job completed — this subframe was welded up for a truck-mounted spray unit, requiring LT400 certification.

Another solid job completed in town 🔧

We recently carried out some structural strengthening work on an older building, including tying up an existing brick wall and installing new steel framing to create a doorway opening. Always a good feeling helping bring these older structures up to standard while keeping them functional for the future.

🎉✨ Birthday Weekend Grind!✨🎉

This Saturday was extra special as I celebrated my birthday by tackling a challenging transpower job. 💪 I removed the sled, cut and re-welded some threads, and then reinstalled everything to ensure it runs smoothly. This bad boy hadnt been lifted off since 1967

Nothing like combining work with a bit of birthday celebration! Here’s to another year of skills and adventures ahead!
