WHAT IS CLOCK TIMING?

Clock timing is the internal timing or frequency of a body/system.

This philosophy is pertinent as one delves into the internal workings of semi-conductors.

When clock time is understood, the importance of drivers will then be better comprehended.

As the electronic systems is put together, the need for a driver, the right sort of drivers comes to play, the choice of a driver in effect determines the sort of output you will get the load carrier to deliver and what they can be use for. Can be a chopper, an Inverter, VFD, etc.

Am talking about load carriers like IGBT and the likes.

Drivers are signal generators, timers, frequency generators, etc.

This Drives determines how often the gates of a power semi-conductors will switch in one seconds.

We had earlier posted about SCRs and gave the meaning of the word, However, SCRs IS the other name given to what we are very familiar with. Its other name referred to as:

Thyristor

Thyristor devices are applied to a lot of systems and uses as earlier mentioned, ranging from switching, rectification, soft start-up of Motors, to old time/high power inverting for AC output..

The beauty remains that it is the highest current device amongst static switches.

The image displayed shows a Thyristor used as a switch, and a 250 Amps rated fuse attached to it, The fact is that 250 Ampere is a toy when it comes to what a thyristor can do.

But then, having such a very powerful switch yet small as it is marks out it beauty, add that to the fact that it gives you the option of a slow start as against full current start.

Their designs come in different shapes and sizes.
