I recently attended the convergence business conference that brought together industry leaders to discuss key trends shaping today's business environment. Do you know that some of the inconsistency in data generated in the lab could be due to wrongly graduated cylinders.

Graduated cylinders are calibrated either “to contain” (indicated liquid volume inside the cylinder) and marked as "TC" or “to deliver” (indicated liquid volume poured out, accounting for liquid traces left in the cylinder) and marked “TD”.

Two classes of accuracy exist for glass wares;
🅰️ Class A: Highest level of accuracy
🅱️ Class B: General purpose work calibrated to a lower level of accuracy

Class A Certified glass wares are inscribed with an individual serial number and are supplied with an individual calibration certificate.

Each certificate includes details of the actual volume, uncertainty estimation for the calibration and the required tolerance for compliance.

➡️ASTM Class A cylinders are calibrated "to deliver" (TD)
➡️Class A, Type 1 borosilicate glass withstands temperatures from -58°F to 1022°F (-50°C to 550°C)
➡️Graduations are durable white enamel
➡️Autoclavable
