When people complain about egg prices, I don’t argue anymore… I just smile.
Because most people only see the egg.
They don’t see the 16–22 weeks of investment behind it.
A single day-old chick now costs about ₦3,600.
Before that chick lays one egg, the farmer has already spent heavily on:
• Feed
• Vaccination
• Fuel
• Heat management
• Workers’ salaries
• Medication
• And constant rising production costs
Yet many still ask:
“Why is egg expensive?”
The real problem is this:
A lot of people enter poultry farming with passion… but passion alone cannot sustain a farm.
Agriculture is not just farming.
It is BUSINESS.
If you don’t understand cash flow, planning, structure, and risk management, the farm can collapse before profit ever comes.
In this economy, surviving in agriculture requires more than hard work.
You need knowledge.
You need strategy.
You need a business mindset.
Respect every farmer you see.
The journey behind every tray of eggs is deeper than most people realize.
