What are your two major inheritances from your father...?

When I say inheritance, I mean a sustainable one. The one that has fed your grandfather and possibly your great-grandfather before it reaches your father.

If you're true to yourself, you'll know that it centers on land and economic trees. Before now, the economic trees chosen are:

- Oil palm
- Cocoa
- Kola
- etc

These don't prevent growing other crops, as every agro crops are important, but you can understand with me that it's only the economic crops that are sustainable to create a wealth that can be passed down to your children.

Mr. Stephen, one of our prospects, has been in contact since 2022. He had the land, and we gave him the estimate, the plan, and everything required to set up his Oil palm plantation in Agbor, Delta State.

On every planting season, he’d would reach out to say, “Next year.” He’d watch neighbors clear fields, plant seedlings, and wait through the hard years. Funny enough, he has visited not less than 3 farms that JOE-T AGRO, the planting team, set up in the Delta. Before, I forgot, we had visited his land too, to be sure. Money is not his problem because he lavished money on us after paying for our inspection and transport.

Now the owners of those plantations we set up are harvesting fruit, filling trucks, and counting millions while their trees work for them.

Just yesterday, I received a message from Mr. Stephen, telling me that he's finally ready. But timing punished him. The cost of our F1-SUPERIOR Oil palm seedlings, Dwarf Malaysia Coconut, and the Giant plantain Suckers, which we have all planned to set up the plantation with, has all increased, including the transportation and workmanship. In fact, it's like tripled.

The window he had for a cheap startup and compound growth is gone. As I always advise, once you get a land, start immediately and expand with time if you can't start all at a time.

Waiting delays wealth. While you wait, costs rise, opportunities close, and others compound what you postponed.

Plantation farming rewards those who start early and stay patient. Start small now, because “ready later” is always more expensive. Nevertheless, we'll finally handle his project this year.

How Mr. Ubong made #10,000 million naira on his Oil palm plantation before selling the red Oil.

Mr. Ubong doesn't just leave his Oil palm plantation, when we supplied and planted our F1-hybrid Tenera in his 4 acres at Cross-River in 2023.

As most farmers would, wait and watch their money sit in the soil.

Ubong didn’t. He followed the common advice we at JOE-T AGRO... always give to our customers, which is: “While the palms grow, the land should work,” so he inter-cropped.

In Year 1, he planted our hybrid 🌽 maize between the young palms, following our perfect spacing, and by month 3, he harvested 80 bags. He sold at #25,000 per bag and realized #2 million.

In Year 2, he switched to cassava. The palm canopy was still open, and sunlight reached the ground. He planted TME 419 stems JOE-T AGRO supplied. 12 months later, 15 truckloads left his farm, and he made #3.5 million.

He didn’t stop. In the wet seasons, he added yam mounds and rows of ugu, green, and waterleaf. The vegetables gave him weekly cash. Market women in Cross-River knew his name. Another #2 million.

By the year 3+, the oil palm started fruiting. But Ubani had already made #7.5 million from food crops. He reinvested, expanded, and hired more hands. When buyers came for his first palm oil harvest, he smiled.

At JOE-T AGRO, we gave him patience. The food crops gave him profit. Total in 3+years: #10 million. And the palms were just getting started.

In years 4 to 5 of the Hybrid Tenera, when it would have reached its peak fruiting stage, Mr. Ubong will be counting millions of naira for over 45 years, because of his good decision.
