Broken Cylinder head valve ( day 2)

🚗 Yesterday, we made a post about a broken cylinder head valve.

While some people said:
💀 “Get another cylinder head.”
Others said:
💀 “Just buy another engine.” 😭

Here’s the AutoTent Service Hub solution 👀

After discovering the broken valve, we had our technicians inspect the cylinder head carefully..

Luckily, the broken valve had not damaged or bored a hole into the cylinder head.
(If it had, we would have recommended replacing the entire cylinder head.)

So instead of replacing the whole engine or cylinder head unnecessarily, the exact damaged valve was replaced 🔧

Now the car is back to smooth performance, the customer is happy and a lot of money was saved 🚗💨

This is why proper diagnosis matters.
Sometimes the problem is serious… but still repairable when discovered early...

🚗 Broken Cylinder Head Valve ( day 1))

A customer walked into AutoTent with complaints of:
⚠️ Engine misfire
⚠️ Rough idle and loss of power
⚠️ Poor fuel economy
⚠️ Hard starting
⚠️ Excessive smoke from exhaust

His mechanic had already changed:
🔧 Spark plugs
🔧 Ignition coils

🔧 Some electrical components

…but the symptoms still persisted 😭

Out of frustration, he came to AutoTent Service Hub seeking a proper solution.

After diagnosis, we discovered the real problem:

💀 A broken cylinder head valve.

Customer changes 3S / 5S timing belt today 😌
Two weeks later:
💀 Same belt issue again
💀 Engine stopped unexpectedly
💀 Everybody confused 😭

Then proper inspection starts 👀
And suddenly we discover:
⚠️ Weak belt adjuster
⚠️ Worn pulley edges
⚠️ Bad water pump bearing
⚠️ Damaged sprocket teeth

Meanwhile na only belt dem replace the first time 💀😭
This is why timing belt replacement should never be treated as “just change the belt” 👀

On 3S / 5S engines commonly found in older TOYOTA::
✔️ Toyota Camry 1996 ~ 2002
✔️ Toyota Picnic 1999 - 2002
✔️ Toyota RAV4 1999 - 2002
…the surrounding components matter just as much as the belt itself 🔧

The Danger Of Ignoring Oil Light.

A customer recently experienced a costly situation with his 2AZ-FE powered vehicle.

He had noticed the oil light blinking intermittently on his dashboard for some time but chose to continue driving, hoping the issue would resolve itself..

Eventually, the oil light came on fully and stayed on. Still, he kept driving.

During a routine errand, the engine suddenly refused to start. The vehicle had to be towed to the workshop.

Upon inspection, the diagnosis was clear: Total engine seizure.
The crankshaft had suffered severe damage due to oil starvation.

Important Lesson:
An illuminated oil light is never something to ignore. Whether blinking or steady, it is a critical warning that the engine is not receiving proper lubrication.

Continuing to drive can quickly lead to bearing failure, crankshaft damage, and complete engine seizure.

We are currently supporting this customer with a clean 2AZ-FE crankshaft to help restore his vehicle.

If your vehicle is showing any oil pressure warning, do not manage it. Address the issue immediately to avoid far more expensive repairs.

It’s simply a more premium, higher-spec version mainly built for Asian markets.
