Pre-Pour Inspection & Slab Casting

Before concrete is poured, the reinforcement and formwork should undergo a final inspection to confirm that the work conforms to the structural drawings.

Then comes casting of the first-floor suspended slab.

Key checks before casting include:

Reinforcement diameter and spacing

Concrete cover and spacers

Beam reinforcement and anchorage

Formwork level, dimensions and stability

Proper propping and bracing

Service conduits/openings

Cleanliness of the formwork

After approval, the Grade 25 concrete can be placed, properly vibrated, levelled and finished, followed by adequate curing.

🏗️ NEXT BUILDING EPISODE — SUSPENDED SLAB REINFORCEMENT FIXING 🚧

After completing the formwork for the first-floor suspended slab, the next stage is the fixing of reinforcement according to the structural drawings.

The reinforcement provides the required tensile strength and helps the slab safely carry the imposed loads.

At this stage, proper attention is given to:

✅ Correct bar diameter and spacing
✅ Beam and slab reinforcement arrangement
✅ Proper lap lengths and anchorage
✅ Adequate concrete cover
✅ Correct positioning of top and bottom reinforcement
✅ Proper installation of spacers and reinforcement chairs

Before concrete casting, the entire reinforcement arrangement must be carefully inspected and approved to ensure it conforms to the structural design.
