*📖MESSAGE:*
Isabella Lilias Trotter born in July 1853, was a British Artist and a missionary. Her paintings and other art works can still be found in the Asmolean Museum in Oxford, England. On her life of sacrifice and great commitment to the gospel, Paula Hemphill wrote, "In radical obedience, she left a promising artistic career and the comforts of England for a life of missionary service in Algeria."

In Algeria, Trotter had to study Arabic for effectiveness in the gospel work. She spent time praying for the conversion of people by the power of the Holy Ghost, writing tracts, translating the gospels of John and Luke into simple Arabic language for the ordinary people. Her life continues to inspire so many believers today. She died in 1928.

From our text of today, and the life of Isabella, we can see some special qualities for Christian service. They are: commitment to Christ and passion for souls, being full of wisdom and the Holy Ghost, sacrifice, faithfulness, moral uprightness, and diligence. Do you possess these special qualities like Isabella, Stephen and Philip? Pray to possess them.

[1]Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

[2]But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

[3]To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

[4]And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

[5]And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

[6]This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.

*📖MESSAGE:*
The big farm house appeared cool and calm, having a lot of guests and a few kids around. But the ‘German shepherds’ kept following Mr. Stevenson around even as he entered every room in the farm house, showing the guests around. It became a cause for concern to the guests. “Can’t we have some minutes to ourselves without all these dogs nosing around?” a guest asked, fuming. German shepherds are notorious for following their owners everywhere even to the bathroom. That is how they are bred, to work directly with their owners.

Just like these German shepherds, we are to follow Jesus, our great Shepherd, through the thick and thin. When you follow Jesus closely you will never derail because Jesus knows the way through the wilderness of life. All you have to do is to follow Him without asking questions (Mathew 4: 19). For the Christian, following our Shepherd implies living as He lived – doing the will of the Father; obeying His word, and exemplifying His virtues, such as love, meekness, gentleness, faith and faithfulness.

*🙏PRAYER:* Lord Jesus, help me to follow you closely.

*🏆CHALLENGE:* All you have to do is to follow Him.

FRIDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER, 2026

NO FRETTING

TEXT: PSALM 37:4-8

4Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

MEMORY VERSE: "Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass" (PSALM 37:7).

To fret means to feel or express worry, annoyance and discontent. When you fret, you worry so much about something that it eats you up. Darlow Sargeant said, "What is the use of worrying? It never made anybody strong; never helped anybody to do God's will; never made a way of escape for anyone out of perplexity."

You see fretting as an escape route from your problem because it is very easy to fret. However, it creates more problems. It causes high blood pressure, hypertension, inability to concentrate on your work or studies, and sometimes accidents. Hence, David said, "Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him..." Yes, pray for a solution to that challenge in your life or family, and God will fix it.

Friend, you should also solve those problems that are practically soluble. The farmer does not wait for God to plant his crops for him, neither should a student wait for God to read his books for him, if he must avoid fretting about his exams.

FRIENDS ARE FOREVER

TEXT: PROVERBS 27:5-10

5 Open rebuke is better than secret love.
6Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
7The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
8As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.
9Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
10Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.

KEY VERSE: “Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off” (PROVERBS 27:10).

G.Randolf said, “Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.” I guess you do not have a friend yet if you do not find Randolf’s assertion to be true. A classic example of a great friendship was that between David and Jonathan. Neither distance nor difference in social status could separate them. When Jonathan eventually died in war with the Philistines, David lamented over him. He later showed Jonathan’s only son, Mephibosheth, kindness for his sake. That was friendship! Do you know that technology has made friends to distance themselves from one another? Many people get hooked up to their smart phones without talking to anyone! This can put a strain on friendship, leading to separation.

However, our text admonishes that, “Thine own friend and thy father’s friend forsake not.” To have ‘friends forever,’ the followings are necessary: 1. Have the fear of God. 2. Love and care for each other. 3. Where possible, visit often, sharing common needs and interests. 4. Speak the truth in love as a friend of Christ.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to maintain true friendship.

CHALLENGE: Make new friends but don’t forget the old ones.

GIRLS AND BOYS ON GOOD GROUND

TEXT: MARK 4:13-20

13And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?
14The sower soweth the word.
15And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
16And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
17And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. 18And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,
19And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
20And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

KEY VERSE: “And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirty fold, some sixty, and some an hundred” (MARK 4:20).

Our Lord Jesus Christ used parables to illustrate the response to and the effect of His word on various groups of people. In an illustration, He said a house stood firm in spite of adverse weather conditions and another fell under the same conditions due to their different foundations. In our text of today, He talked about four groups of people that His word impacted differently with the fourth group being the only one that is profitable. This is the group of people who hear the word and receive it and cause it to produce fruit: thirty percent, sixty percent and some a hundred percent. You will not be among the unprofitable groups in Jesus’ name.

Friend, your heart should be like the good ground where seeds germinate and grow to produce plenteous harvest. This is the type of soil Jesus wants you to be. Do you allow the word of God to be rooted in your heart to transform you? Be a doer of the word of God and you will become fruitful.

PRAYER: Lord! Make my heart a fertile ground for Your word.

CHALLENGE: Be a good ground.

SACRIFICIAL GIVING SANCTIONED

KEY VERSE: “For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had” (LUKE 21:4).

BIBLE TEXT: LUKE 21: 1-4

There was a young man born to Christian parents. He became a Christian at a tender age. From childhood, his parents taught him how to give to God, always providing the means for him. On entry into the University, he received his monthly stipend from his parents, but he expected them to give him extra money for his tithe, offering and other kingdom projects, unwilling to spend from his stipend. He had not internalised the spirit of sacrificial giving. Dear Christian youth, do you willingly give for God’s work from your income?

From our text, our Lord Jesus Christ observed the giving pattern of worshippers, and commended the poor widow who gave all she had. That was sacrificial giving, portraying the depth of her love for God. Friend, giving to God willingly, cheerfully and sacrificially shows the depth of your love for Him and His kingdom. Give of your best to God in everything. He owns you and all that you have. Give God your best in money, time, talent, service, and evangelisation of unbelieving youths

PRAYER: Help me, O God, to give sacrificially, Jesus’ name.

CHALLENGE: God gave the best, give Him your best too.
